#1: esp, abs, airbag fault, speedo fault Author: pug-206-boy, Location: Eastbourne, East SussexPosted: Tue Feb 21, 2012 4:18 am ---- Hey guys,
I have been driving my 180 for a few months now, it has been running fine until a few days ago...
The traction control fault light comes on when I start the car, and deactivates its self 10 or so feet down the road..
Also at start up the abs fault and airbag fault comes up on the dash.
On occasion when i start it, it doesn't realise there is an esp fault, when this happens the speedo reads about 10mph below the speed im doing (so says 20 when im doing around 30) after a while and few bumps it realises that the esp has a fault, it beeps at me, deactivates, then the Speedo just bounces up and starts reading my speed correctly.
Also, lastnight I locked it and put the alarm on, after a few seconds the alarm started going.off, I unlocked it with the key and tried to re-lock it, the central locking stopped working, I had to start the car for it to register the key again and lock it...
These are either all small faults or just something linked...I have raken out and extented warranty, do you think electrical faults would be covered as its not wear and tear?
I have no idea what is wrong with it, please help...thanks..

Is your battery on the way out?
Get a diagnostic done, its the only way to know exactly whats wrong with it.
ABS/ESP work on the same sensors so if one goes the other does - common issue
Airbag light - common issue
Speedometer - IIRC its linked to the ABS ring/sensor so that could be causing this problem too.
The locks - ..................f*** knows lol Last edited by Big_Rich180 on Tue Feb 21, 2012 4:48 am; edited 1 time in total

As long as the faults aren't major that's great...
The airbag cables, is it the one hanging down from under the seats?

#6: Re: esp, abs, airbag fault, speedo fault Author: pug-206-boy, Location: Eastbourne, East SussexPosted: Tue Feb 21, 2012 4:52 am ---- I haven't got cash for a new battery though
If I was to disconnect the airbag and give the connection a little clean I'd have to disconnect the battery for over 15 mins so it doesn't deploy..correct?
#7: Re: esp, abs, airbag fault, speedo fault Author: Abzynthe, Posted: Tue Feb 21, 2012 4:54 am ---- Have you tried soft booting the BSI to see if its just that going crazy?
#8: Re: esp, abs, airbag fault, speedo fault Author: pug-206-boy, Location: Eastbourne, East SussexPosted: Tue Feb 21, 2012 4:54 am ---- Oh and also I have an erratic idle, the rev fluctuate while idling... :/

#11: Re: esp, abs, airbag fault, speedo fault Author: pug-206-boy, Location: Eastbourne, East SussexPosted: Tue Feb 21, 2012 5:06 am ---- If looked through the soft booting how to, and il give it a go in a bit..
And all cars/vehicles are female, they don't understand the concept or expense!
That's why their so bloody expensive and high maintenance! :@

halfrauds price = £125
motor factor = £60
based on a 605 3.0v6 about a year ago
#13: Re: esp, abs, airbag fault, speedo fault Author: pug-206-boy, Location: Eastbourne, East SussexPosted: Tue Feb 21, 2012 8:23 am ---- My battery is fine for now, at 53%
Just soft booted it and the abs is faulty hardware
Anyone know a website where i can get abs rings/ sensors without having to buy a whole new driveshaft?
