Locking Wheel Nuts
-> 206 Problems

#1: Locking Wheel Nuts Author: Squeaker, Location: En Route to the Premiership 2012/13 PostPosted: Sat Mar 03, 2012 10:57 am

Can anyone recommend me a tool or a way of removing the locking wheel bolts. The key has slightly rounded and doesn't grab, just slips.

I can't take it to a local tyre place as its not drivable at the moment.

I see Halfords have some, but want something or a technique that will deffinately get them out.

Thanks

Can never get them to work, always end up snapping or bending them Laughing

Ive snapped the tap wrench before trying to use an easy out Laughing

Not snapped a tap or easy out yet as I know what a pain they are to then try & drill out Laughing

A guy at my work uses a punch and a very large hammer and some brute force to get peugeot lockers out.

Technique is to make an indent in the nut and eventually with the hammer action, the nut will just wind out.

I've always seen it work for him, just be careful not to scratch the alloys.

The easiest technique is to remove them before they get a chance to round off. As I learnt the hard way.

Just take it to a local garage if you can, they most proberbly wont charge you.
