this will give you an idea regarding lower ball joint ( wishbone ) and droplinks.
i had mine done at the garage , both wishbones and droplinks fitted and tracking ( will need to be tracked) cost £220.
the job looks easy enough , but it can be a pita to get the old balljoint out, if doing it yourself.
#5: Re: 206 gti problems Author: Linkpad, Location: WalesPosted: Sun Mar 04, 2012 7:40 am ---- i see a how to guide for front brakes but aint rear brakes need winding back ? and i dont see any guides to replace drop links or lower arms ive got Haynes but its a bit patchy about rear discs and Drop links ...
#6: Re: 206 gti problems Author: Seabook, Posted: Sun Mar 04, 2012 7:56 am ---- drop link is easy.... just remove 2 nuts to remove the old one and then bolt the new one on...
#7: Re: 206 gti problems Author: Linkpad, Location: WalesPosted: Sun Mar 04, 2012 8:10 am ---- Yeah thanks ill try that see what spanners i have might need axle stands

there's no might about it. Unless uour using a 2 or 4 post ramp then allways use axel stands.
#9: Re: 206 gti problems Author: Linkpad, Location: WalesPosted: Mon Mar 05, 2012 6:58 am ---- So is there anyone here that has changed rear discs & pads or replaced a front arm ? And drop links are a pain to get off so i will have to look when its not raining (sigh)
#10: Re: 206 gti problems Author: Edward, Location: In the garagePosted: Mon Mar 05, 2012 1:13 pm ---- Rear discs and pads are easy. I've got quite a comprehensive piston wind back kit which won't work on the rear calipers. Nothing better than a large screwdriver across the slots in the piston then rotate the piston.
#11: Re: 206 gti problems Author: Linkpad, Location: WalesPosted: Tue Mar 06, 2012 6:36 am ---- EDWARD I WILL TRY THAT THANKS MATE U A STAR !! I GOT A GOOD G-CLAMP AS WELL ...
#12: Re: 206 gti problems Author: kit325, Location: LondonPosted: Tue Mar 06, 2012 7:12 am ---- Brake pads replacement for the front and the back are very easy, drop links replacement are even more simple provided the nuts not seized. Make sure u check the condition of your disc brake (clean it properly/or replce if in bad condition) and get axle stands as it helps a lot and it is safer to work with it.
I suggest u let the garage to change the wishbone as it is a pain in the a**e job unless your very good in diy and there's a change that your driveshaft will pop up and u will have gear oil everywhere. Make sure u get a proper oem quality wishbone as the cheaper one from ebay won't last long consider the amount of labour u need to put it into it.
Goog luck!

No need for a g clamp either! Best not push the pistons back in on an ABS equipped car withouth opening the bleed screw first. Use a proper brake spanner though.
#14: Re: 206 gti problems Author: Linkpad, Location: WalesPosted: Sat Mar 10, 2012 10:31 am ---- 1st attempt at drop links and i got the nuts loose but the thread moves with it, looks like a T25 holds he thread in but tried that and the torx teeth snapped under pressure. I was thinking of molegripping the other side side formt the nut ? There is like plastic backing on the other end can i just bash this off ?
#15: Re: 206 gti problems Author: Edward, Location: In the garagePosted: Sat Mar 10, 2012 12:06 pm ---- I've just cut the nuts off in the past.
#16: Re: 206 gti problems Author: Linkpad, Location: WalesPosted: Sat Mar 10, 2012 12:32 pm ---- with what a hacksaw ?
#17: Re: 206 gti problems Author: LeeThr, Location: North West WalesPosted: Sat Mar 10, 2012 12:52 pm ---- Angle grinder
#18: Re: 206 gti problems Author: Linkpad, Location: WalesPosted: Sat Mar 10, 2012 12:57 pm ---- oh not exactly in my toolkit lol
#19: Re: 206 gti problems Author: LeeThr, Location: North West WalesPosted: Sat Mar 10, 2012 1:00 pm ---- Borrow one or go buy one from b&q there cheap enough
#20: Re: 206 gti problems Author: usher, Location: northallertonPosted: Sat Mar 10, 2012 1:01 pm ---- you could drill the thread out i had to do this on my old 406 took some time
#21: Re: 206 gti problems Author: Linkpad, Location: WalesPosted: Sun Mar 11, 2012 7:10 am ---- Second attempt with mole grips and wouldn't grip thread without it turning so no luck, got the rear brake calipers and pads off then seen a yet another torx screw holding the disc in that wouldn't budge. Whoever engineered this torx fitting needs to be shot ... Why can't they be like Ford or BMW oh i forgot its f**** peugot.
#22: Re: 206 gti problems Author: MrBSI, Location: What's it to you? ? ?Posted: Sun Mar 11, 2012 9:21 am ----

Torx fittings have been around for 45 years.
Disc screw = impact driver OR if you havent got one put the torx bit in the screw head & hit it hard several times with a hammer BEFORE you attempt to undo it.
#23: Re: 206 gti problems Author: Edward, Location: In the garagePosted: Sun Mar 11, 2012 10:32 am ---- A small hacksaw is perfectly adequate.
#24: Re: 206 gti problems Author: Linkpad, Location: WalesPosted: Sun Mar 11, 2012 11:49 am ---- i just remember other cars ive been on they had standard screw fittings, as for the drop links most other cars have a bolt or fixing to anchor down on the opposite end.
edward u reckon a small hacksaw would take the bolt off a drop link, i cant see that working ?
I tried hammering the torx screw on the disc, looks like an impact torx is best option. Why oh Why did i buy a 206.
#25: Re: 206 gti problems Author: MrBSI, Location: What's it to you? ? ?Posted: Sun Mar 11, 2012 11:55 am ---- Genuine Peugeot drop links will have spanner flats on the threaded stud to stop the ball joint turning as you undo the nyloc nut.
#26: Re: 206 gti problems Author: Edward, Location: In the garagePosted: Sun Mar 11, 2012 1:36 pm ---- You cut the nut off the droplink. Just slice a side off it.
#27: Re: 206 gti problems Author: Linkpad, Location: WalesPosted: Sun Mar 11, 2012 1:53 pm ---- aah cheers ill try that with a hacksaw, and get impact driver for the rear discs
#28: Re: 206 gti problems Author: Linkpad, Location: WalesPosted: Tue Mar 13, 2012 12:18 pm ---- 3rd attempt at taking that god damn nut off the drop links this time with a hacksaw and a hammer and chisel even with 1/3 of the nut cut off and chiselling it like hell the thing still won't budge... Not sure i be able to get a nut splitter over it ...
