Right, was a nice day today so had 5 minutes to whip ECU out and investigate the 'added wiring'. Unfortunatley I still cannot get a wire number off the red and beige wires that the added wires attach to but on opening the ECU they are soldered onto the centre plug on pins A4 and A2. Why the hell they didnt attach to the wires outside of the ecu is beyond me... Any one know what these are allocated to?

Lee might help you with what those pins are for, im guessing something aftermarket has been added sometime, now removed.

Are there any wires or pins coming out of the ECU that aren't attached to anything?

no mate. its just those 2 which are non standard. They come off those pins and are drilled out the side of the ecu and then attach to a red wire and a beige wire that go with the rest of the ecu wires into the main loom

top man! I dont suppose you have a hdi wiring diagram and 3 plug ecu pin out available (everyone I found is single plug)? Id like to stip this non standard wiring out but I am still unsure what system it is tied into? Thanks so much for your help so far

They'll both just go to a earthing point. It'll be to fix a a fault. If you take them off then the car might not start.

Fair enough, It just seems a really poor way of doing things! Thanks for your help and clarifying things

It's better than tapping into existing wires. Direct contact with solder means a better connection.

Only downfall is that they should have wrapped some leccy tape around the wires on the exterior to keep them together and to protect them.
