hi ppl,
bought my 206 gti (2002) just over a week ago;but i didnt relise -too hell bent on owning one- that the clutch is pretty stiff when you press the pedal, that and it judders in 1st all the time .Again i was immune from noticing as i thought being a different car it was my fault adjusting to the driving position.
reading your forum it looks like a new clutch is needed, but will it make the pedal lighter to foot after a new clutch has been done, or is there a bigger picture? i.e. flywheel / slave cylinder will want looking at.
thanks Smile

I had a non OEM clutch fitted in my 180 and that was a lot lighter than the OEM, personally i prefer the heavier clutch though.

My 180 used to judder really bad when pulling away from a stand still.

I filled my rear engine mount with silicone and now its 100 times better.

Its still there but i hardly notice it any more just a very slight rumble.

Still going to fit a new clutch when i get time but its so nice now compared to how it was.

How did you stop the silicon running out before it set? Thinking of trying this before going down clutch and flywheel change!

I just squirted loads in and left it for a few days to go off.I dont drive it during the week so its not a problem. If you need your car during the week you could fill it on a Friday afternoon and leave it till Monday, should be set by then.

The judder is still there but the difference is very noticeable.

I would recommend a new clutch if it is juddering and I am not sure they are too expensive either.

From what I have heard it is not the easiest car to work on. I hope that solves the problem though, good luck

my clutch of my 180 is bloody stiff. had mild judder on 1st but I work around that problem by giving the engine more gas for a split second longer before clutching into 2nd.

thought I needed a new clutch so I asked the master mechanic on my last service. tells me my clutch is fine and there is no need to change. anyhow the stiffness irritates me, I'm wondering if spending money for a new clutch by Peugeot would solve the stiffness. would it?

ohh! there was this time where my clutch sounded like there was metal bits crunching or breaking off when moving off from stationary. happened only a few times on 1 particular day but has been silent ever since.

do I need a new clutch? stiffness and some crunching noise?
