Bsi - complete set off another car, will it work?

Basically as the title says? I strongly believe mines packed up and sourcing a second hand one for a 1.6 cc is a mare.

If I was to get the full ecu/bsi and key set off a different car but it wasn't the identical number to mine (as printed on the sticker) would it still work?

Thanks

Simon

I think so. You would need ECU, BSi, IMMO and transponder chip. One of the Lee's will confirm/rubbish that.

However, why do you think yours is knackered?

Yes, but you need to make sure you have a multiplexed set if your mulitplexed or pre-plexed if your pre-plex. You will need the whole set ECU, BSI, transponder ring for the ignition barel & the transponder chip for the key.

It may still need configuring to the car. For example my speedo did not work as the car it was off had ABS so it was not getting a reading. It needed changing to the gearbox sensor which Lee kindly did for me.

A hatchback one will need configuring for the folding roof ECU to be enabled.

It's ok. I'm sorted. I had all the symptoms according to posts all over the Internet of a failed bsi. Turns out just a fuse had blown, but somehow was still getting a continuity reading when still in the board
