#1: pulls to one side but fine when accelerate Author: Kelz, Location: KentPosted: Wed Mar 14, 2012 5:47 pm ---- Hi,
As above I have a problem with my 206 gti, If i drive down the road the car pulls slightly to the left like there is a problem with the tracking but if I accelerate or put my foot down a bit the car pulls back to the right?
If I put my foot down I can let go of the steering wheel and the car goes straight, as soon as I take my food off the throttle the car pulls back to the left again
Doesn't seem like tracking to me but I may be wrong, Any ideas guys?
Regards,
Kelz

#3: Re: pulls to one side but fine when accelerate Author: Kelz, Location: KentPosted: Wed Mar 14, 2012 5:55 pm ---- That had sprung to mind, I thought maybe dodgy balljoint maybe?
#4: Re: pulls to one side but fine when accelerate Author: Andrew, Location: Black Country Ay IPosted: Wed Mar 14, 2012 6:15 pm ---- Only way to find out for sure is get it lifted up and have everything checked for play, saves guessing
Good luck sorting it
#5: Re: pulls to one side but fine when accelerate Author: Kelz, Location: KentPosted: Wed Mar 14, 2012 6:21 pm ---- Thanks
Also this may help.... Just checked paperwork and there is a garage reciept for N/S wheel bearing replacment and also the n/s wishbone arm
Surely it couldn't have gone again already lol

I guess that depends on weather or not they used cheap tack to replace the worn one.

#8: Re: pulls to one side but fine when accelerate Author: Kelz, Location: KentPosted: Thu Mar 15, 2012 6:44 am ---- Had the car jacked p today and the driver side front wheel has a bit of left and right play
I can rock it left and right and there's a slight knock too
Would this be the lower arm or tie rod end?
#9: Re: pulls to one side but fine when accelerate Author: E5GDM, Location: EssexPosted: Thu Mar 15, 2012 6:47 am ---- Could still be the tracking.
#10: Re: pulls to one side but fine when accelerate Author: Kelz, Location: KentPosted: Thu Mar 15, 2012 7:02 am ---- Really? Track rod end maybe but can't see it being from tracking out not when you can shake the wheel itself left and right! There's obviously play there
#11: Re: pulls to one side but fine when accelerate Author: E5GDM, Location: EssexPosted: Thu Mar 15, 2012 8:09 am ---- You've obviously got to get any worn parts replaced (read that after my last post), then get your tracking checked & your car should drive fine. Find somewhere else to keep your food as well.
#12: Re: pulls to one side but fine when accelerate Author: V9977, Location: Athens, GreecePosted: Thu Mar 15, 2012 1:02 pm ---- Get tracking done on laser or gyroscopic rig.
Confirm camber is within tolerance limmits (not adjustable).
If both of the above are acceptable, any remaining problem (holding/pulling/drifting) has to do
with the steering rack and PAS hydraulics.
#13: Re: pulls to one side but fine when accelerate Author: Kelz, Location: KentPosted: Sat Mar 17, 2012 11:38 am ---- Just got brand new track rod ends and anti roll bar drop links, waiting for the new wishbones and then I will fit them all and get tracking done
Can it be anything else causing this?
It just pulls to one side as soon as I take my foot off the throttle but fine under pressure/load
#14: Re: pulls to one side but fine when accelerate Author: ARRAN, Location: WiltshirePosted: Sat Mar 17, 2012 11:48 am ---- Mine did this and it was the driveshaft. Could also be wishbones.
#15: Re: pulls to one side but fine when accelerate Author: Reflekt., Location: South WalesPosted: Sat Mar 17, 2012 12:18 pm ---- My HDi does this! Only it pulls slowly to one side then flicks straight again when i take my foot off the accelerator.
I had a look underneath and looks as if it could be the driveshaft (as said above)
Will be gettin it changed soon and ill update on here to see if it resolves the problem
