They are great cars just a shame it a rover! But for a 1.4 it is glued to the road around corners and way quicker than the mk5 fiesta zetec and seat Ibiza formula sport 100 which are both in its category!! It also has real bad clutch judder like the 180 suffers from!!

head gasket goes between 40k-60k which on some cars is about average and once replaced job is a good un
reason why they are notorious for HGF is due to the majority people who own them only doing short little journeys so the engine doesnt heat up properly thus rapidly expanding and shrinking etc thus leading to HGF failure
