Engine dies at lights/junctions
-> 206 Problems

#1: Engine dies at lights/junctions Author: MattyP, Location: Plymouth PostPosted: Thu Mar 22, 2012 2:40 pm
    ----
took the gf out today in the pug and drove on country roads from mount batten to ashburton which was about 30mins then the car was parked up for another 30mins while we looked around the shops then we headed back to plymouth via princetown which was alot of windy roads etc (those who live in devon will know what I mean)

Was nearing my gf's house after an hour of constant driving and then the last 15mins being in heavy traffic, once turned off onto a quiet road I noticed the engine light came on and then when I stopped 100m at a roundabout the revs dropped right down, the engine warning lights came on and the engine stalled, this happened 4 times everytime I came to a junction where I had to stop but when I got the gf's house and went to park up the revs dropped right down but the engine didn't stall and the revs went back to normal idle.

Went into the gf's house for an hour and since leaving hers the car has been fine.

Any ideas as the last time it happened was 4 years ago and I had the coilpack changed which cured it

Probably the coil pack again then if its showing the exact symptoms? Get the codes read, could be anything really. Coil, Idle Air Control Valve stuck/not working

Will it run smoothly when throttle is applied? If it does then that will be the idle control valve at fault.

Although ICV problems don't normally result in ECU lights coming on.
