#1: Y reg 1.1 problem Author: rgreen1988, Location: Essex PostPosted: Fri Mar 30, 2012 6:29 am
    ----
Hello, I have a problem with my 2001(Y reg) Peugeot 206 1.1 and wondering if anyone can help. I'm getting really frustrated with my situation!

I was very stupid and bought this car approx. 3 months ago with the engine management light on. Car seemed to drive perfect and it had a full years MOT so I thought that it wouldn't be a problem.

While driving VERY occasionaly I would feel the car slightly "hop" a few times. It didn't happen very often so I didn't think much of it. About a month after having it I was driving home from work and the car started to "hop" a lot and the engine would cut out and I would lose power steering etc when putting the clutch down (at traffic lights, roundabouts etc). I managed to get the car home (hopping and stalling constantly) and the following day drove it to get the car plugged in and the error codes read. (The car drove fine again to get this done but the engine light was still on). Plugging the car in the error codes that appeared were:

P0265 - INJ' CYL' 2 CIRCUIT
P0271 - INJ' CYL' 4 CIRCUIT
P0268 - INJ' CYL' 3 CIRCUIT
P1327 - CYL' 1 REF' SENSOR
P0262 - INJ' CYL' 1 CIRCUIT
P1525 - STEPPER MOTOR CONTROL
P0202 - INJ' CYL 2 CIRCUIT
P0204 - INJ' CYL' 4 CIRCUIT

These codes were then cleared and the light went off. As soon as I started driving the light came back on.

I decided to give the car a full service including cambelt change, water pump, thermostat etc AND replaced all four injectors. After this the light was still on and all of the above still being displayed when plugged in.

I was then driving home from having a meal out and the car again started hopping and stalling when the clutch was down. I managed to get home and then ordered and replaced the idle control valve (as looking online this was a possible fix to the stalling and car not able to idle sometimes.)

Still, all the error codes still appear and no change has happened (although car hasn't stalled since, but I also haven't driven it much either).

I was fed up of the constant issues so took the car to a local garage for them to check over and repair. On the way to the garage I noticed that the engine management light was off! I drove approx 7-8 miles and as I was nearing the garage, while accelerating the car "hopped" once and the engine light came back on. The garage had a look, plugged it in and all the error codes were being displayed again

I left it with them and the following day they called to say that they have checked all the connections (I think!) and they believe it to be a faulty ECU. They posted the ECU off to be checked and repaired.

They called me today (a week after sending the ECU off to be repaired) and said that they had recieved the ECU back and it had no faults found. The ECU is fine. He put it back in the car and all of the error codes are being displayed again.... He said that he has no idea why this is happening and he was certain that it was the ECU. He said that I can come and collect the car (He hasn't charged me a penny which is nice!).

So, I'm back at square one. I have a car that mainly drives fine, 99% of the time has the engine management light on, sometimes "hops" and stalls. I have given it a full service, all new injectors, new idle control valve and the ECU is fine.

Any suggestions anyone? I'm starting to pull my hair out! Sad

Coilpack could be faulty?

Thank you for your reply ukskater01.

I called a Peugeot Dealership who I explained the problem to and they said "Coilpack" aswell.

Would a faulty coilpack bring up all those faults and cause the problems I have?

That was just a guess, there are a few more experienced members on here that should be able to help. Although it does seem to be the coilpack or wrong spark plugs if cutting out when others on the forum have the same problem. Hope I've helped

Thank you. It does seem like a common problem so even if it doesn't help it may be worth replacing it anyway.

Anyone else got any ideas? I am in the process of ordering a new coil pack and I'll post again when replaced. See if that helps at all.

Nope, only seems to missfire (quite rarely) when accelerating. As I said, I drove it for about 4-5 miles today and it "missfired" once.

Thanks Bummers, Bosch spark plugs are in.

Is it worth replacing the spark plugs again when replacing the coil pack? I had new plugs put in about 6-8 weeks ago.

If your running a sageam coilpack then it is likely, just get another genuine (but second hand as new is rediculous) and you can keep the original plugs

As ive run NGK and never experienced any issue, but thats touch wood though
