I was driving along the other day and the car completely cut out :/

No warning or anything, the engine stopped, tried to put the hazards on but there was no power for some reason so they wouldnt come on, the clocks had frozen to how they were at the time (30mph, fuel half full, revs on 2k)

Had a look under the bonnet and the -ve battery terminal was half off, would that have caused it somehow?

thanks in advance for any info..

This happened to me! It was where I wired the amp to the 12v supply. I simply stuck it on the car battery and away we go. I drove down a 30 road and I lost steering and power(engine cut out) pulled over and pressed hazard switch(can hear clicking but no lights) tried to turn engine over and it was not turning, eventually it did and the speedo was stuck on 26mph and I had no headlights nor indicators or any indication of what speed I am doing or revs

took it to Peugeot garage with my wallet clinched inbetween my cheeks. After a scan with their fault finder they found a fuse had blown and re-wired my amp wire to the engine fuse box (at a small cost) and has been fine ever since. To this day I'm still puzzled!!

Ah right cheers, any idea which fuse it was? its really bizarre because the battery terminal was fine a few days before and was on pretty tight so it shouldn't have slipped off at all! stupid thing :/ luckily there was nobody around to ram me from behind because i just completely stopped lol didnt realise how heavy it was to steer without the assistance haha

You didnt loose steering, you only lost the power assistance, you can still steer the car perfectly fine without it.

Yeah as MrBsi said I lost assisted steering so it was very difficult to steer!
This happened 6 years ago, so I'd be guessing what fuse it was... It wasn't a big fuse in size or amps

The stock lever action clamp on the +wire is IMHO utter crap. After having it work itself loose three times I cut it off, leaving an L shaped bit attached to the wire, which I clamped in a terminal like the bottom center ones here
