Rear left Flexi brake hose change
-> 206 Problems

#1: Rear left Flexi brake hose change Author: ANDYKNOWS, Location: Newbury PostPosted: Sat Mar 31, 2012 9:17 am

Car failed the mot last week due to very low pressure on the left rear brake.
Had the drum off, dry contamination, cleaned, shoes ok, no leaks, cylinder working with low pressure [two screwdrivers and assistant applying brakes] bled cylinder, still low pressure. No damage to brake pipes. Have a new flexi pipe to fit, they can deteriate inside causing a blockage and low pressure.
It is quite inaccessable, anyone changed one.

Lower the rear axle a few inches and that's all the access you'll need.

Thats a bit drastic just to change a brake pipe? Hoped thered be a simpler solution, but it makes sense. Thank you.

Only needs two bolts removing.

Or remove the pipe from the drum and disconnect the next most accessible pipe under the car. Take the pipe and hose out and dismantle them off the car.

The flexi end I cant get at is fastened to a bracket on the suspension, stupid , if it was angled another 40 or 50 degrees, be able to get a spanner on it.

Remove the bracket from the trailing arm with a socket. Take the brake pipe and hose with it and dismantle it off the car.

Will try this method, with my luck, Id probably shear the suspension bolts trying to drop the suspension. Thanks again.
