#1: Rubbish Radio Reception Author: PaddyC, Location: IrelandPosted: Wed Apr 04, 2012 2:51 pm ---- As the title says my radio reception is crap. It's nothing to do with my location as even high up on a hill it still can go from perfect to pure static in the space of a few yards. I checked in my old (now my sisters) 306 and the reception anywhere in town is rock solid so there's a problem in my 206 somewhere. Could it be the aerial or the wire? Any way of checking? How east is it to replace the aerial/cable if they are at fault? Cheers.

#3: Re: Rubbish Radio Reception Author: PaddyC, Location: IrelandPosted: Wed Apr 04, 2012 2:53 pm ---- It's the standard one that came on the 206.
#4: Re: Rubbish Radio Reception Author: Dabamash, Location: The car in frontPosted: Wed Apr 04, 2012 2:53 pm ---- It may be the plug falling out of the back of your headunit. It was an issue with mine. Took it out, pushed the plug back in a bit harder and it was fine
#5: Re: Rubbish Radio Reception Author: PaddyC, Location: IrelandPosted: Wed Apr 04, 2012 2:54 pm ---- Already checked the plug at the back, (first thing I checked) and it's nice and tight so I don't think it's that.
#6: Re: Rubbish Radio Reception Author: 138Andy, Location: NottsPosted: Wed Apr 04, 2012 2:55 pm ---- you dont need a radio listening to your pug purr should be enough lol
#7: Re: Rubbish Radio Reception Author: PaddyC, Location: IrelandPosted: Wed Apr 04, 2012 2:57 pm ---- Not for a 4 hour+ journey next weekend it's not!
#8: Re: Rubbish Radio Reception Author: Dabamash, Location: The car in frontPosted: Wed Apr 04, 2012 2:58 pm ---- If you have a stock aerial and it's at the right angle, the only thing left to check would be the signal coming through the wire, I suppose

Really?
(Surely it can't just be my tired and immature mind that see this comment as highly amusing?)
Obviously not....
#13: Re: Rubbish Radio Reception Author: PaddyC, Location: IrelandPosted: Wed Apr 04, 2012 2:59 pm ---- I knew when I was typing that someone was gonna take it the dirty way. (Probably the same with that comment too!)
At least I'm not the only dirty minded member on here!

And how do I check that then?
#15: Re: Rubbish Radio Reception Author: E5GDM, Location: EssexPosted: Wed Apr 04, 2012 5:07 pm ---- It could be a dodgy connection at the aeriel end.
#16: Re: Rubbish Radio Reception Author: gibbs-, Location: LondonPosted: Wed Apr 04, 2012 5:12 pm ---- I had an issue with reception on my kenwood HU when it was fitted and couldn't get any AM reception at all. Took the radio out, took the aerial cable out and had a look, it was a bit loose in its housing. used a bit of insulation tape to make it more rigid and put it back in and back in the dash, works well now! Also it can sometimes come off as you put the radio back in depending on the room behind it.

#20: Re: Rubbish Radio Reception Author: jimjam19927, Location: PortsmouthPosted: Thu Apr 05, 2012 3:05 am ---- I bought an aerial booster which worked a treat. just plugs inbetween the aerial on the hadunit and you insert the clip into the iso block where there is a 12v ignition feed.

AM is still used as an alternative for BBC Lancashire when they are covering 3 games at once. Plus Talk Sport and 5Live are always listened to at the weekend.
