#1: airbags in the b pillar? Author: drunknmunky, Location: Blackburn and Catterick PostPosted: Thu Apr 05, 2012 1:57 pm

right im in a bit of a tough spot at the moment im going about trying to remove all my pillars for spraying done A and C with ease started taking the B out all fine until the top part seemed very firm on then i realised there's airbags there or signs for them Surprised

now my problem is i dont want to be going setting the airbags off but i want to remove that b pillar to spray it!!

anyone shed any light on how i might go about this it would help a lot

if no solution is come to as a last resort i could spray them in place but its gonna mean a lot of dust sheets and masking up!!

plus i would rather do them out of the car.........

thanks in advance as i know some clever person will come to my rescue Wink

It's just a normal b pillar but is secured on better Smile pop the airbag bit out, undo the torx screw (or two) and just pull.

how do you mean pop the airbag bit out? how do i go about that im scared of setting them off i mean the whol bottom half of each pillar is loose its just the top bit do i just get like a small screwdriver behind the airbag sign and pop it out then there's torx screws behind there i take it?

It isn't a button mate, the whole pillar is secured better so that if it goes off the pillar isn't really loose. It isn't actually behind the pillar but just above it above the door line.

Yes put a screw driver behind it and the cover comes off, undo the bolts and pull the pillar off. I couldn't work it out as well for a while.

haha thanks for that mate sorted it now well kind of as i have the little airbag signs off but ive lost my torx thats the right size by working in the dark Sad hopefully find it in the morning and get them ripped out and black them out Very Happy it is a bit of a confuser that one like :/ and i did have an idea the airbags where more on the roof bit as you see them when you take the roof lining out ?

well thanks anyway much appreciated Wink

No problem yeah it's just behind the roof lining, always a b*****d trying to take things off for the first time when the fixings are hidden, same principle for the a pillars just remove the alarm sensors and there is a bolt behind that.
