I'm now thinking, could the fork be not sitting on the two 'notches' on the release bearing
and allowing it to move-around?
This would make some sense as I think it started doing it when the clutch kit was fitted,
and mabe there was a slip-up on re-assembly.
The clutch works but feels a bit different compared to Mrs.V9977 (exact same kit fitted)
Like there is a gap where it suddenly bites.
By far the biggest (/expensive) problem I had with the pug.
Horrible noise (like a helicopter on some occasions), making me look and feel like a total prat in the car.
Gearbox re-conditioned due to suspected primary shaft bearing about to go.
Clutch was fitted perfect. - Twice (second time replaced the whole set inc. release bearing)
None of the above made the slightest difference.
The problem was the bolt guide bushes (collars) between engine and gearbox were distorted,
so when the gearbox is fitted, it is not perfectly aligned (input shaft) with the disk and
consequently the flywheel > crankshaft.
Also the left-hand side transmition rubber-mount was tightened to prevent weight of the box 'pulling down' on the engine as it were. (there was slack in the middle bolt which has no spacer tube unlike BE4 boxes)
Worst part was replacement guides were included in the MA overhaul kit, but we did not think to use
all of them (on the engine-gearbox join).. Stupid.
Seabook came up with it a day after problem was pin-pointed and solved.
Lee (even though no-one likes him) relentlessly sent info-flash and Pegeot documents helping a great deal as usual.
#20: Re: Gearbox noise dissapears when pressing clutch pedal [SOLVED] Author: V9977, Location: Athens, GreecePosted: Mon Jun 17, 2013 4:20 am ---- [UPDATE]
Having now addressed a crankshaft issue ( www.206info.co.uk/Foru...art=0.html ), it seems that this was very much the main cause of this problem as the remaining small noise has suddenly completely disappeared. This makes absolute sense if you read the post immediately above regarding crankshaft-flywheel-clutchplate centering.
