#1: Grrr Author: alborough1974, Location: Isle of WightPosted: Sat Apr 14, 2012 11:21 am ---- How annoyed am i!
My 206 passed it's mot yesterday. Quite what posessed me to book an mot for friday the 13th i'll never know but it passed with only one advisory for brake pads getting low so all good up until then.
However this morning i'm stopped in a queue of traffic when the stationary car behind me gets hit from the rear sending him into the back of me then i get sent into the rear of the car infront & you've guessed it the car infront ends up in the rear of the car in front of her. 5 Cars involved in total.
I will post photo's at somepoint but damage consists of front and rear bumpers bonnet plus rear fog lights and whatever else is found when stripped down

#3: Re: Grrr Author: alborough1974, Location: Isle of WightPosted: Sat Apr 14, 2012 11:26 am ---- Yea safe to say i'm not having a good day.
Just hope the insurance company get there a**e into gear and sort it quickly.
I'm just hoping it doesn't get written off
#4: Re: Grrr Author: MrBSI, Location: What's it to you? ? ?Posted: Sun Apr 15, 2012 5:03 am ---- So you where to close to the car in front then in the traffic queue
If you where driving correctly it would have been only the rear end of your car that would have suffered damage.

Surely that depends on how fast the moving car was traveling?
It must have been fairly fast, as the moving car hit another stationary car before hitting the OP

No i wasn't close att all at least 3-4 ft from the car infront the driver of the car behind me reckons the woman in the car behind was doing 40-50 mph so doesn't take much at those speeds to push a car forwards.
The car behind was a total write off so i didn't do to badly considering

Judgmental, know it all, keyboard warrior.
Reminds me why I logged off this site years ago...only came back on to sell my A pillars and regretting that already.
Mr BSI, do everyone a favour and pipe down.

See, my Audi boot floor is damaged yet they're bloody fixing it.
Only bangers get written off so easily

Mine was hit at probably a lower speed, I didn't hit the car in front and the damage at the back looked like a scratch until you lifted the boot floor carpet and sound deadening. Mine was only just repairable due to only being 2 years old...
#13: Re: Grrr Author: alborough1974, Location: Isle of WightPosted: Sun Apr 15, 2012 9:49 am ---- Well i have actually lifted the boot carpet etc and all looks to be straight. The majority of the damage to the rear bumper looks to have been from the other car riding up onto the bumper and pushing it down so will be interesting to see what happens.
It's off to the bodyshop to be looked at tomorrow so i will know more after that.
#14: Re: Grrr Author: Elreidy, Location: WrexhamPosted: Sun Apr 15, 2012 2:00 pm ---- Ah sorry to hear this mate, same thing happened to my step dad, glad your alright anyways, that's the main thing.
#15: Re: Grrr Author: Lee, Location: EnglandPosted: Sun Apr 15, 2012 2:08 pm ---- Write off...buy it back....strip and sell it....happy days
#16: Re: Grrr Author: alborough1974, Location: Isle of WightPosted: Mon Apr 16, 2012 7:24 am ---- Well it's now been looked at by the bodyshop and the guy there seems reasonably confident that it will be repaired not written off.
Damage to the front consists of bumper which will be repaired, Bonnet which will be replaced plug grille and N/S headlamp mountings.
Rear will require new bumper, foglamp and rear panel. Repair is needed to bootlid which has just been flattened off slight and the boot floor can be straightened out.
In addition her insurance company have already admitted full liability which saves me a whole load of hassle.
Hopefully with everything taken into account it may live to see another day and you never know i may get round to getting some mods done to it.
#17: Re: Grrr Author: Mikey2uk, Location: StevenagePosted: Mon Apr 16, 2012 7:44 am ---- Sounds like a lot of damage to be honest and if the cost is more than 2 thirds of the car value and by the sounds of it they will be, the insurance company is going to write it off I'm sorry to say.
The insurance company will see it cheaper that way than repairing it as they have to use genuine parts.
#18: Re: Grrr Author: alborough1974, Location: Isle of WightPosted: Mon Apr 16, 2012 8:41 am ---- Yea i'll wait and see what happens hopefully it should be sorted nice and quickly. A repair is the best option but i'll keep looking to see what else comes up at the right price. I've just seen a 206 1.4 LX hdi on a 2003 for £2195 with £900 just been spent on it including a new turbo & Particulate Filter. Only thing is that it's done 104000 miles where as mine is 05 with 69000
#19: Re: Grrr Author: alborough1974, Location: Isle of WightPosted: Tue Apr 17, 2012 10:58 am ---- Well as much as i was hoping it wouldn't be it has now been written off. Now just got to negotiate a good settlement price. On my side is the fact that its got a fully 13 month mot as only passed mot on friday and that was the first day it could be presented for mot.
I'm also gonna be pointing out the fact that it has only had 1 previous owner who was infact my sister so the car has been in the family from new and the fact that it has a full service history with many new parts recently fitted.
Loan car is being dropped off shortly and as it costs them for the entire time i have it they will no doubt be wishing to arrange settlement as quickly as possible.
Now just gotta decide what to get next. Been looking at a 2003 LX 1.4 HDi or could go for something completely different so will have to wait and see
