Did I mention it's illegal and it's a 1.1?
Why waste your money? Just colour code the bumpers or save up for a new car.....or an engine transplant
I'm with adam, I hate when people do this, as soon as anyone says how can i do X to my 1.1 people all pipe up saying its all pointless.
He said he knows it won't improve performance, maybe he wants it for sound or whatever, im sure he has his reasons, it's his car not yours so if you don't have anything constructive to add just don't bother posting?
off subject i found out what model my alloys where, and didn't need a halfords booklet turns out the cost well over a grand when they came out and are still going for £669 happy days.
#17: Re: How to de-cat a 1.1 Author: Andrew, Location: Black Country Ay IPosted: Sun Apr 15, 2012 1:54 pm ---- If he wants to do it to a budget, surely he could just go to a breakers yard and get a manifold and downpipe from a 1.1 that has an underfloor cat? In an ideal world it should match up to the rest of his exhaust
If he haggled and shopped around, with new gaskets it shouldnt cost a lot to DIY with the right tools.
This way he wouldn't have to hollow out the cat and it would be there to put back on when he needs to.
#18: Re: How to de-cat a 1.1 Author: Timon2210, Location: PalestinePosted: Sun Apr 15, 2012 1:58 pm ---- some ppl like to post just for the sake of posts counter..LOL,so can the car with the front CAT ,can be decat? or only the one is fitted down the car??
#19: Re: How to de-cat a 1.1 Author: Addaz, Location: SuffolkPosted: Sun Apr 15, 2012 2:11 pm ---- From experience you cant fit the different style TU exhaust manifold system as it catches on the filter housing (they change with the cat positioning)
Hence why the way to go is to get another cat and smash it to bits or to get a 4-2-1 manifold
BUT REMEMBER dont connect the second lamba sensor, as yes the EML light will be on but the vehicle will run fine

But you don't get the exhaust popping sound that way.
#23: Re: How to de-cat a 1.1 Author: Andrew, Location: Black Country Ay IPosted: Sun Apr 15, 2012 3:50 pm ---- Its his car he can do what he wants If he does it and finds that it was a waste of time, then its a lesson learned for him. If he likes it then who is anyone to judge so long as he is aware of the implications he has to work around?
Too many people say "not worth doing" because its a 1.1, 1.4 or what have you. But if you think of it like that, is it worth doing anything at all to these little french hatchbacks, or any car for that matter? I say you only live once and if something makes you happy, do it.

#25: Re: How to de-cat a 1.1 Author: Lee, Location: EnglandPosted: Sun Apr 15, 2012 3:56 pm ---- Don't decat the 180, slows it down and causes it to go into limp mode a lot

Probably not as they should be able to map it out, but on the standard set up it causes problems. Same as when people fit shitting induction kits, as they don't realise they have removed the secondary air pump!
#28: Re: How to de-cat a 1.1 Author: L5_UKS, Location: West MidlandsPosted: Sun Apr 15, 2012 4:02 pm ---- Ah yeah well ill be getting a remap after its fitted so hopefully will be all good
They sound awesome after a decat IMO
Pretty sure I've seen someone on here decat his 180? someone from abroad?

Not any more, new rules say all cars that left the factory with a cat have to have one at MOT
