on friday my aux belt decided to strip and got caught in the bottom pulley, wheel which in turn stopped the cambelt and knackerd the valves.
I got on the phone pronto and bought a 2005 206gti engine to replace mine.
the only problem i have is it is a fly by wire type.
Question:will i be able to put my throttle onto the new unit, and have it running with a cable?
i figure the engines are the same just that it has a senor.si this correct or am i barking up the wrong tree?
any help would be appreciated.

the new one will arrive tomorrow
it's not been bad to take it apart but no doubt I will have left over nuts and bolts.
I get to try out my new engine hoist aswell.

In this case he will have to. His old engine was cabe so his ecu will not be set up for an electronic throttle.

I like electric TB though much more.

Much prefer electric.
We have two near identical 206 1.4i, one cable the other electric.
Most people say cable has instant responce etc but honestly there is no delay
by the time you put your foot down and the servo moving the throttle pane.
However, the ECU does have a way to open the throttle more (or less) depending
on driving situation with an electric TB. Economy is much better and I seem to get
more responsiveness from the car. And I love how light and quick the pedal is.
I think that's probably why most/all new vehicles use electric since it's not really cheaper
to implement, and Euro standards are getting quite strict for emmisions/consumption too.

I drove a 180 which uses an electronic throttle and thought it was a pathetic repsone to the cable in my GTi 138.
