#1: A fuel question. Author: devildriverxii, Location: StevenagePosted: Tue Apr 17, 2012 12:02 pm ---- Ever since having my car, the fuel gauge has been dead, always showing empty with the little red light on.
I used to just reset the trip meter every time I filled up, then when I had reached 200 miles, or every payday which ever came first, I just used to fill it back up again.
But now I have a new job, and it's 4 weekly pay, not 2, so my old method isn't working too well.
My question is, 'roughly' how many miles could my possibly do on a full tank, I mainly just drive to work and back, so about 6 miles a day, I know all cars would be different, which is why I just need a rough estimate.
I have a 2001 (x-reg) 2.0 HDI, serviced every year.
Thanks, sorry if it's an unanswerable question.

#4: Re: A fuel question. Author: Seabook, Posted: Tue Apr 17, 2012 1:23 pm ---- i got 44mpg combined i think, which is pretty low on average
#5: Re: A fuel question. Author: tomd0801754, Location: MoscowPosted: Tue Apr 17, 2012 1:35 pm ---- Easily get 400 to a tank.
#6: Re: A fuel question. Author: Seabook, Posted: Tue Apr 17, 2012 1:42 pm ---- if you drive 6 miles per day which is similar to me lol
i drive 8 miles during weekday in stevenage and i use less than 1/4 tank per month
#7: Re: A fuel question. Author: frankaai, Location: BelfastPosted: Tue Apr 17, 2012 1:54 pm ---- I get around 200 miles for 20 quid @ 1.48 quid per litre
#8: Re: A fuel question. Author: Abzynthe, Posted: Tue Apr 17, 2012 1:57 pm ---- I do 14 miles a day to work and back in my 2.0 hdi and ive been averaging 550 miles to a tank
I usually fill it up every pay day (25th of every month) and i usually have about a quarter of a tank left.
I know the maths doesnt add up, but i do use my car more than just driving to work and back
P.s. you could always see whats wrong with the fuel gauge

#10: Re: A fuel question. Author: parkesie, Location: HampshirePosted: Tue Apr 17, 2012 3:41 pm ---- 550 atank easily. Shouldnt be to hard to fix the fuel guage. My find its been left unplugged at the fuel tank after a service.
#11: Re: A fuel question. Author: Lee, Location: EnglandPosted: Tue Apr 17, 2012 3:48 pm ---- 400 from the brim to fuel light
That's averaging 80-90 on m'ways, 70-80 on dual carriage ways and speed limit on normal roads.
Accelerating fast and braking hard.
My car gets driven like a car, not a fairy ship.

Author: frankaai, Location: BelfastPosted: Thu Apr 19, 2012 1:57 am ---- worse case it could be the sender from the fuel tank but ive heard they cost a fortune, is the fuel reading at all? ive heard the float sensor thingy.. lol gets caught and sometimes you need to just give the car a good rocking
#15: Re: A fuel question. Author: devildriverxii, Location: StevenagePosted: Mon Apr 23, 2012 4:32 am ---- I had my in-tank sender replaced 18 months ago, but it still didn't sort the problem
He's in the garage today to sort out my battery drain, I'll see what he can do.
