#1: 206 Grand Tourisme #1482 Project *UPDATE PG3 31/05/10* Author: Austin, Location: TelfordPosted: Mon Feb 08, 2010 6:54 am ---- Everyone probably remembers my old 206 1.1 LX in indigo blue, loved the car but really needed abit more power so whilst the site was down i decided to take the plunge and look at buyng a new one.
Always fancied a 206 GTi but wanted something abit more special, when i came across a 206 Grand Tourisme, which is a Limited Edition of 4000 but 600 in RHD, abit of a marmite 206, but i love it.
Took me a while to find the right one as many have been chaved up and wrecked, until i found this great standard example. Was abit more than the list price of other GT's but didn't mind paying the extra to get one that i wanted. Only got 52k on the clock and full service history from new, and best of all it hasn't been messed with.
Here are a few pictures of the car in the advert, haven't had chance to do my own pics yet but will post some up when i do.
Thanks

#13: Re: 206 Grand Tourisme #1482 Project Author: Austin, Location: TelfordPosted: Tue Feb 09, 2010 5:38 am ---- Thanks for all the comments and replys guys, got a few plans for it but nothing major, want to try and keep it looking close to standard with it being limited edition.
Firstly want to upgrade the discs and pads to mintex all round as they haven't got many miles left in them. Might also get a set of goodridge braided brakelines.
Think it needs to go a little lower but don't want to loose the comfort, so been looking at Eibach 25-35mm spring kits. There more expensive than g-max and spax but from what i've heard there well worth it.

Thanks mate, i didn't think the GT's came with a spoiler standard, but have seen a few with them before so maybe they were a optional extra. What numbers are yours and your mrs? Would be a good idea when the forum is up and running again to get a register or something going to see how many are left now.

£31 is abit steep but i suppose they have to be made to suit with the number. You'll have to get some pics of both yours and your mrs up on here, will probably leave it abit before getting a register going, let the forum re-populate.

#24: Re: 206 Grand Tourisme #1482 Project Author: Austin, Location: TelfordPosted: Sun Feb 14, 2010 1:01 pm ---- UPDATE!
Quick little update on the GT, had the nimrods refurbed by a good friend of mine who has access to a spray booth. had them re-painted in BMW Titan Silver, really happy with how they have come out tbh. Here are some progress photos:
Also gave her a good clean throughout, including the engine bay which was filthy, then went and did some new fresh photos:
Love the car even more now she is all clean.
Will be oredering Mintex discs and pads all round this week and a sety of goodridge braided brake lines, which will hopefully be fitted next weekend.
Let me know what you all think Last edited by Austin on Wed Feb 17, 2010 10:10 am; edited 1 time in total

#26: Re: 206 Grand Tourisme #1482 Project Author: Austin, Location: TelfordPosted: Sun Feb 14, 2010 1:53 pm ---- Cheers mate, well firstly is to sort out the brakes as they are seriously on there way out now, so will be upgrading them to Mintex discs and pads all round, will also be fitting goodridge braided brake lines.
Want to go lower but still want to look OEM standard, so been looking at an Eibach and Bilstein setup, But that won't be until abit later in the year, may also sneak in a cupra R splitter.

#29: Re: 206 Grand Tourisme #1482 Project Author: Austin, Location: TelfordPosted: Tue Feb 16, 2010 4:07 pm ---- lol they just silver brake lines, couldn't find any red ones, just stayin at standard 266mm discs at the minute, may upgrade in the future.

#38: Re: 206 Grand Tourisme #1482 Project *UPDATE PG3* Author: Austin, Location: TelfordPosted: Sun Apr 25, 2010 7:54 am ---- *UPDATE*
Has been a while since i updated this thread, so here we go. Not alot has been done to the car, just a couple of little things really, but starting to get a few parts in my garage now, here's a few pics:
What do we have here?
OMP Upper Strut Brace
Brand New Spax VSX 40mm Kit, which i got for a bargain price of £78
Constella Group N gear linkages:
Thats all for now, got to get some new drop links and top mounts before fitting the Spax kit but hope to have them all fitted by FCS. Next plans are GTi 180 Rear anti-roll bar, poly bushes and GTi 180 torsion bars. Oh and a good detail ready for FCS
Got another update for you guys, Spax VSX Kit and OMP Strut Brace have both been fitted, also lowered the torsion bars 40mm but seem to be getting a knocking noise so will need to investigate. The car has also been given a service this weekend, changed spark plugs for bosch super 4's and air filter for a K&N panel filter. Also dropped the engine and gearbox oil and, which were both on the low side.
Seen as its only 2 weeks away from FCS i decided to give the car a good detailing as it was looking abit sorry for itself. Gave it a m/c polish with menzerna pads and compounds then topped it off with AutoGlym HD Wax, as you can tell form the pics it came out very well.
Next, group N gear inkages to be fitted and also sort out rear knocking noise as its starting to annoy me now!
Comments welcome

#43: Re: 206 Grand Tourisme #1482 Project *UPDATE PG3 12/09/10* Author: Austin, Location: TelfordPosted: Sun Sep 12, 2010 12:24 pm ---- Right guys, haven't updated for a while so here we go!
Haven't got alot to report on really, some may know i took the car around the track at rcokingham for FCS, absolutely loved it! can't wait to get on track again, just need to upgrade the brakes, had a couple of s***ty pants moments! haha. But i think i have earned my track sticker which has taken pride of place on the boot!
Had to have the cambelt and aux belt changed last month as it was getting on nearly 10 years old and was in the back of mind that it was going to snap so it was about time it got done. Turned out the waterpump was on its way out aswell so had that at the same time, set me back a nice £400 sheets!
After that i never had alot of wonga floatin about so just done a couple of little things. Finally got round to fitting the group N gear linkages and spoox motorsport quickshift, after alot of f**ks and s**ts, but feels as tight as a nun now! huge improvement!
Also got myself a nice carbon rocker cover, been wanting one for ages, when finally one popped up on ebay and got it for a bargain price, looks awesome!
Here's a couple of new pics:
Next plans are to get a gti180 ARB and torsion bars, and upgrade to gti180 front brakes as got a little brake fade on track at rockingham
Also a set of baker top mounts and gearbox mounts, nice and stiff!!!
P.S Leon is my mates, its beautiful!
Peace out!

#47: Re: 206 Grand Tourisme #1482 Project *UPDATE PG3 31/05/10* Author: Austin, Location: TelfordPosted: Tue Sep 14, 2010 12:49 pm ---- Thanks guys, yeah i do like the ride height tbh, looks really high at the front but that's cause of the 206 arches, front is higher than the rear. Hopefully be doing a few more track sessions next year
