#1: Rear axle fitment. need advice quickly please :) Author: MartyParty, Location: Newcastle Upon TynePosted: Wed Apr 25, 2012 10:32 am ---- I've got a 2.0 hdi and the rear axle needs replacing. I've just bought a gti rear axle but ny mechanic is having doubts about it fitting. Will it fit?

He gave me the gti rear discs with it too. Very sure it was a phase 1 gti though. No colour coded strips.

You will also need a new handbrake cable definately
Not the end of the world either way

job done

#10: Re: Rear axle fitment. need advice quickly please :) Author: MartyParty, Location: Newcastle Upon TynePosted: Wed Apr 25, 2012 4:10 pm ---- Ah great. So it should fit either way? I dunno I bought the car then a serious knocking occurred. Took my Mechanic and.he said axle was shot to pieces. It seems pretty good. Not that I know what I'm looking for though. Included rear gti discs and hubs for me too. Got front hubs pads and discs - £70. Utter bargain. Discs and pads are in mint nick too.
