#1: Peugeot dealer prices Author: Johnbyron, Location: Scunthorpe PostPosted: Thu Apr 26, 2012 5:32 am

I've just rang my Peugeot 206 dealer in goole for a price for a couple of bits and I was surprised how cheap they were,

Front grill for the sports bumper £18.36
lion badges for wheels £6.36 each,

cheaper than flee bay Laughing

Anyone else found that Peugeot arnt actually all that bad on prices ??
I know these bits were cheap but Im not to sure what they'd be like for prices on things like mirrors and alternators etc etc

Because of a lot of comments on this forum put people off that's why. Everyone thinks they can get cheaper either on here or on eBay and won't even bother going to the dealer as they will always thinks its going to be expensive because it's a main dealer but if people were peppered to do some research instead of just thinking that they will be surprised.

No matter how many times it is said no one will ever take notice, so you may as well not say anything and let them pay over the odds for things.

Same backbox?

Also, I've found work is expensive but if you turn-up with part numbers and just get the parts it's cheaper and better.

People do tend to think ebay is the cheapest, but sometimes its not!

I run my own fancy dress shop,

for example exploding lighters, as seen on

www.play.com/Toys/Toys...fer=search

and

www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Jok...3356349693

I sell them £1.49 each!

So these days you do have to look around, get quotes from everwhere!

Euro car parts are not the same , they rust/degrade a lot faster and look cheaper than the real thing i had a euro back box for my 138 and it lasted 6 months before the hanging arm rusted off and the weld started to crack where as my original pug back box lasted 3 years with no problems would probably still be going if i didnt get a sportex

I doubt they rust quicker than Peugeots 180 system BUT im guessing they wont actually be for the 180.

I have had good and bad deals from ebay and main dealer, a phone call costs nothing to do a price check, having restored a 205 GTi I have been able to get parts from a main dealer cheaper than ebay for items that are listed as 'rare' and 'hard to find'. I have got them brand new from the dealer for less money. The mesh bonnet grills I just bought for the 206 were listed at over £80 in the dealer but after a bit of haggling got em for £40! Don't be afraid to ask for a deal, there's only 2 possible answers you'll ever get Wink

i'm getting bucket seats this weekend and i am replacing the bolts in the runners with new ones.. 79p per bolt from the dealers! not bad Smile

It does seem expensive but I've had bolts from the hardware store which snaped in half when banged with a hammer whereas the pug ones didn't even bend.
You can tell the difference just by looking at them.

So, is it worth saving a few quid on bolts, when you're spending loads on what they're going to hold?

Not sure how much engine oil is but gearbox oil is cheaper than anywhere else and its the correct stuff.

well i have removed the bolts before with the wrong tool and i have messed up the head of the bolt (Ooopsie) and i have probably weakened them too... I rather be safe and have new ones

i check unipart and pug if i think its expensive people in there know me so always start with best i can do is blah blah

also if i get the right staff at unipart i can get raf disc at 20%

I dont even bother looking up prices now as 95% of the time getting a genuine part from the Peugeot / Citroen dealer works out cheaper.

As for getting parts form GSF or Euro car parts, I find both are really useless & not worth my time or effort anymore.

People just have it in their head that Peugeot as a main dealership will instantely rip you off, but not being biased because I work in one, but we are alot cheaper on certain bits than the Bay and factors

And sometimes the dealership mess up your order!!! Went to collect my bolts today and they were the wrong ones! Now I have to get my seats fitted tomorrow then replace the bolts when the new ones arrive on Monday Sad

Stupid parts ordering guy! It took his supervisor and a mechanic to look at the bolt I was holding in my hand to find out that yes indeed it was an incorrect part
