Im going to fit a oil pressure gauge but i need to put on the sender for it.
Now i have thought that the ideal place would put in a t-piece into the block where the oil temp switch is at the moment.
Question........ Where is this located on the block???
Would this work fine???
Any ideal what the thread size is so that i can get the t-piece???
Cheers
Dave

Either a blanked-off threaded hole, or replacement of the oil-pressure switch with dual-purpose
temp&pressure or something.
Also look for an extra hanging connector in the lower engine bay.
You will need BSI update as well.

Thats right isnt it???

#6: Re: Oil temp sensor Author: donkeyding, Location: manchesterPosted: Wed May 02, 2012 1:57 am ---- So would this need a reconfig then for adding a pressure gauge??
Lee in sure ul be the man to educate!!!

I will be putting a seperate sender for the pressure gauge. Hense the reason y i cant understand why the bsi would be affected in any way???
Eductation needed plz

#9: Re: Oil temp sensor Author: V9977, Location: Athens, GreecePosted: Wed May 02, 2012 6:59 am ---- There's two ways you can go about this;
1) using an aftermarket seperate dial which takes it's signal directly from the sensor so to speak.
2) Many 206 clusters (dials unit) already have provision for temp readout. By updating the BSI
(cabin electronics control module under the steering wheel) you can add an extra sensor on a pre-existing
hole on the engine block and have a readout on the cluster. Most of the time though you have to change
the cluster as well to one that has this which is a hassle.
Or you can forget the whole thing and always take care of your oil quantity/quality etc.
I would recomend Total Quartz 9000 or Shell Helix Ultra 5W40, both fully synthetic but someone
might correct me on this for a 138.

He wants oil-temp gauge I think.

Peugeot were kind enough to fit an oil pressure warning system to the car. When the red light comes on, the pressure is too low. Simple and effective so no point messing around with it really.
#13: Re: Oil temp sensor Author: donkeyding, Location: manchesterPosted: Wed May 02, 2012 2:45 pm ---- No its deffo the oil pressure that i want.
My car isnt a show car and no means ever will be! Its used as a daily hog, some spirited driving on a weekend and the odd gew track days. Soo there fore nothing wrong with being aware of what exactly going on.
As said in other threads each to there own. I like them n i want one so there it's going to be a smoked gauge so black when the engine is off and a stepper gauge. After market of course
Soo best option without messing with the bsi is to put in the t-peice where the oil temp sensor is on sump?? Or is there some where else i can attach to on the block???
Cheers

You need to find the oil pressure sensor on the engine and put the t piece there.. If done properly then gauges look ok.
My ex's son decided to put one on his car, didn't know what he was doing . Next day I was sourcing a replacement engine as all the oil wason the outside of the engine block. The gauge was just an expensive dial on the dash by the time I finished fitting the engine. Looked better than the hole it would have left.
#15: Re: Oil temp sensor Author: simpsonrc, Location: coventryPosted: Wed May 02, 2012 3:43 pm ---- It will not work in the sump, best to put it where the standard oil presser gauge is on a t-piece just above the oil filter.
I would think oil temp is much more useful to have than pressure though.
#17: Re: Oil temp sensor Author: donkeyding, Location: manchesterPosted: Thu May 03, 2012 1:09 am ---- Ahhh above oil filter. U legend!!!!!
Tryin to locate the standard sensor to replace it there!!!!
I already have oil temp pal on the standard clocks!
Its going to be located on the a pillar and fully fitted by a fully qualified mechanic to ensure no leaks etc
Cheers

A bit of a pointless thread asking where you connect it to as any fully qualified mechanic will find (if they don't already know) the best way to fit it.
From the way this thread was going, it sounded like you were going to attempt it yourself.

I'd just give the mechanic the kit and tell him to get on with it, after all that is what you're paying him for.
#19: Re: Oil temp sensor Author: donkeyding, Location: manchesterPosted: Thu May 03, 2012 2:59 am ---- I dont pay pal
Just to clarify its going to be a electrical gauge not a mechanical one
