#1: West Mids RR meet *Voting thread* Author: Andrew, Location: Black Country Ay I PostPosted: Tue May 01, 2012 3:35 pm
    ----
I bodged up the poll on the main thread so please vote for the venue you would like us to go to, then I will phone the winning company to see available dates and open a new poll to decide on date.

The poll will run for 7 days to give everyone chance.

Options:

HLM Tuning (Bromsgrove)
We went there last time, got 3 (or 2) runs for £35 with air to fuel ratio included (some of us didn't get this) and they are all put on the graph. The pros were that we could take the files home on a memory stick and view them on the computer and plot all the different types of data, and even compare one car to another on one graph. I am unsure if the other places offer this

Dynodaze (Hinckley)
Was suggested last time but HLM was the popular vote. £30 for 2 runs and the best one is plotted on the graph. AFR is an extra £10, which is good if people don't want it and only want to spend £30.

Mike Evans Motorsport (Shrewsbury)
Only recently suggested in the main thread. I phoned them and they seemed nice guys, and said they would open on a Sunday just to accomodate for us, as Sunday is a universal day off. You get 1 run plotted on a graph with AFR for £40, but you get as many runs needed to make sure that you get an accurate result. Another pro is that they have an AWD dynomometer so all types of cars can go on.

AFR = Air to fuel ratio

Date will be decided once the venue is chosen

Dynodaze, most have already been HLM and they started to be abit arsey with the people towards the end with only doing 2 runs for them when it was meant to be 3 runs.

They all have websites that come up first on Google Wink

Edit: Yes I only had 2 runs as well, and some of us had no AFR reading

All you need to know is:

HLM - 3 Runs and AFR reading all printed for £35
DynoDaze - 2 Runs, best run is printed for £30 and AFR reading is extra £10
I have to enquire about Mike Evans MS

I want value for money, tbh If I was last and they were arsey with me I would literally feed him to the lions, I would expect 3 runs if that's what I paid for,,

Date is to be voted for out of a list of available dates the chosen company can fit us in

Ive phoned ME motorsport, they said £40 for printed graph and air fuel reading. I asked how many runs an he said as many as it takes to get a good reading, so nobody will be fobbed off. He wasa nice guy so my vote is with him

He did seem very polite on the phone, thats a bonus to me - if I'm organising a meet for a group of people that could well be putting £300-500 into the company good customer service goes a long way

Hinckley or Bromsgrove.

Shrewsbury is too much of a trek for those of us south of the Bull Ring
however "polite" or "nice" the bloke who owns the place may be.

Thats why I have left it to a majority vote with details, its horses for courses. Though if we go to HLM I will express that I want all 3 runs and an AFR this time

Abit selfish, some are coming from outside the midlands!

I'm not inclined either way as to which one we go to, Shrewsbury would only be an hour drive from West Mids anyway, and being as most of us will be waiting hours for a turn a little extra driving time won't hurt. But then again everybody has a reason why they would prefer one over the other and thats why I've left it to a poll

I can't stress this enough though, the winning place in the poll will be the one we go to.

Well it looks like HLM won the vote, I'll need some input from people as to when they would be available so I have some info to give the guy when I phone up

Does anyone have an objection to me booking it for Saturday 26th May?

I've been asking what dates people would like and all I get is "let me know what date and I'll go", so instead of wasting time I'm just going with that date as chasing people for input was very frustrating last time

I won't be able to afford it for the 26th if Cheltenham get to Wembley

#30: Re: West Mids RR meet *Voting thread* Author: Andrew, Location: Black Country Ay I PostPosted: Tue May 15, 2012 6:30 am

I'm waiting for a call back to see if they are booked up on the 26th. I don't really want to put it on the 2nd or 16th June as these dates will clash with Mod Nats and FCS, even though FCS is on the Sunday I doubt people will want to travel to two car events in one weekend, some may want to spend the saturday getting their car ready for the show next day. A lot of the people interested in this will be going to both or either of the shows you see.

So the other alternative is 9th June which I will book if the 26th isn't available, it will just mean people might end up going to car events 3 weeks on the bounce if they are going to the shows
