#18: Re: just had a bad accident Author: Edward, Location: In the garagePosted: Wed May 02, 2012 2:20 pm ---- It's an alloy sump so won't be corroded. The tube is the probe from the oil level/temp sensor.
The oil pump is level with the bottom of the block not in the sump.
#19: Re: just had a bad accident Author: broadblaster, Location: south coastPosted: Wed May 02, 2012 2:20 pm ---- think if it was me i would get the pump sorted (and pick up) bolt a new sump on fill up with fresh oil and see what it sounds like when started mate you will soon know if you got a major problem

Well you might be lucky and someone on here knows of one!
Otherwise I use ebay to track down people breaking Pugs and contact them, or there are specialist breakers ... try google.
You tell them what you want and wait for the calls. There are a few sites like that. Last edited by gazza82 on Wed May 02, 2012 2:49 pm; edited 1 time in total

#27: Re: just had a bad accident Author: -Dave-, Location: North ManchesterPosted: Wed May 02, 2012 3:50 pm ---- Ouch. I did this on my old Capri and couldn't claim as the car had been lowered. However my engine was fine and it had been running about ten seconds afterwards. I sourced a replacement sump from a knackered engine that was being scrapped and swapped them over. Did the job. Now I know that was a older engine with but theoretically because you turned it off do quick I would say the chance of major damage would be slim. Also 25mph over a speedbump, I take them nice and slow lol. Already lost a piece of exhaust a few weeks ago and after seeing that I will be going even bloody slower now.
