#1: Engine change Author: sulli, Location: SheffieldPosted: Thu May 03, 2012 1:43 am ---- Hi was just wondering if it was physically possible to put a 2.0 gti 136 engine in a 1.1? Thanks

You would probably have to swap looms, ECU, BSI, It would be advisable to upgrade the suspension and the brakes.
IMO it wouldn't really be worth the hassle and would be easier looking for a 138 to work on as a project.

If you do it might be worth just buying a cheap gti for the parts (i break them and pick them up for lees than £400) as you will need: engine and box, suspension, brakes, subframe, hydrolic clutch ecu, wiring loom, bsi cat and exhaust system. might have missed some parts, but you can see its a big job.

if you think you can get away with it then bonus

Fitting a GTI lump in to a 1.1 206 is a pointless money wasting conversion these days.
206 GTI's are so cheap to buy these days if you really want one.
