#1: Having trouble putting mudguards on. Author: Cuderz, Location: IpswichPosted: Sun May 06, 2012 8:11 am ---- Tried putting the rear mudguards on my pug today, they are the pug styled ones, have sprayed them EXY black. But cant seem to fit the clips on properly. Even with a bit of force, the clips dont want to go on, even when i push the arch liner back a bit to allow more room. Any ideas?
Also do i have to drill a hole in the arch liner to fit the front ones? As i can see where they line up, but there isnt a hole there already.
Sorry to keep asking questions, when i changed my aerial yesterday due to bad reception and the gasket/ rubber thing had busted so water got in. For a short fix, my dad put clear sealent around the edge. Went to scrapyard and got another one, When i took the old one off, after unbolting it from inside, i tried to get it off slowly, but as soon as i moved it, the paint underneath came off with the aerial. So now stuck what to do.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks,

There are NON sports & sports types depending on which type of rear bumper you have fitted.

And my car is a 2002 1.4 LX so thought that was non sport.

They are easy to fit, front you need to undo the the Torx screw under the sill near the arch. Put the screw though the mud flap and do up, then use the self tapper you get with them and screw into the arch liner.
Rear you should have clips like you would use to hold speakers in place and there is a Torx screw under the bumper.

#7: Re: Having trouble putting mudguards on. Author: Mikey2uk, Location: StevenagePosted: Sun May 06, 2012 9:11 am ---- How do you mean won't go on?
Where are you putting them?
#8: Re: Having trouble putting mudguards on. Author: Cuderz, Location: IpswichPosted: Sun May 06, 2012 9:18 am ---- the side of the clip without the hole on the outside, and the side with the hole on the inside, between the arch liner and the mudguard. The clip around the mudguard and the little edge inside the arch. Last edited by Cuderz on Sun May 06, 2012 9:19 am; edited 1 time in total

#10: Re: Having trouble putting mudguards on. Author: Cuderz, Location: IpswichPosted: Sun May 06, 2012 9:20 am ---- Do you reckon its a sport rear bumper then? Just thought it wouldnt make sense, non sport front and sport back?

You on about the rear ones?
The front ones only have one self tapper that goes at the top and the Torx screw that's goes under the mud flap.
The rear ones use the clips, they go on the bumper edge 2 on each side and the Torx under the bumper.
#12: Re: Having trouble putting mudguards on. Author: Cuderz, Location: IpswichPosted: Sun May 06, 2012 9:27 am ---- Yeah thats it, the rear bumper edge, the clips wont fit round the edge and the mudguard.
#13: Re: Having trouble putting mudguards on. Author: Mikey2uk, Location: StevenagePosted: Sun May 06, 2012 9:35 am ---- They only go on the edge of the bumper and then you use screw the self tapper through the whole on the mud flap into the clip.
The clip does not attach to the mud flap
#14: Re: Having trouble putting mudguards on. Author: Cuderz, Location: IpswichPosted: Sun May 06, 2012 10:22 am ---- So does the self tapper go through the mudguard and the clip goes around the edge? so the screw secrues the mudguard to the clip?
#15: Re: Having trouble putting mudguards on. Author: Mikey2uk, Location: StevenagePosted: Sun May 06, 2012 10:25 am ---- Yes that's correct. Put the clip on the edge of the bumper and then screw the self tapper through the mud flap in to the clip on the bumper.
Surely you have instructions as it clearly states how to put them on
