would that be the alternator not charging it or the battery had it?

If the alternator wasn't working, then the battery light would stay on rather than go off as soon as he drives

If the battery was knackered the car wouldn't start. & if the alternator was shot the battery wouldn't be charged enough to start the car.....so maybe a loose terminal lead or bad earth. Or the alternator or battery are on the way out.

Check the alt. belt to see if it's loose or not, because maybe the tensioner is not working well.

Done some messing around when I start the car the light stays on. When I rev it over 3k it goes off?? What sort of lead could I be looking for that may be loose? my dad said could be the bushes in the alternator?
Belt seems fine and tight.

Yes mate

When the light is on it was 12.something volts

Then when it was revved and the light went off it was at 14.somthing volts

12v isn't enough when running!

As said above its a loose or corroded cable. If you don't know what your looking for and care about your car take it to a professional... PLEASE

If I didn't care about it I wouldn't spends ££££s on it mate I was looking for advice if any one had the same problem.
It just seems funny how revving it past 3k turns the light off and everything is normal, could be the alternator packing up so I'll change that 1st

Hmmm all seems fine now, battery light is staying off and it's charging as normal, just could of been that the alternator is on it's way out so I'm getting one any way so I no it's changed as I haven't changed it and I've had the car 5 years.
