I seem to be posting in the problems forum quite a lot lately.. feels like a bad omen going in for my MOT next month..

i went to fill up when my petrol light came on and was short of money so i just popped a fiver in and when i started the engine the gauge went straight back to where it was when i pulled into the pump.. slightly above empty, so the gauge kept going down over the day and i went to another station and put another fiver in.. the gauge didn't go up again.. so now im driving with a tenner of petrol in which is usually 1/7 of a tank but according to the display im on empty

any ideas?

A fiver? That isn't even a squirt of fuel, no wonder the needle won't move.

The fuel light is a gallon of fuel, at least £7

No you didn't. You put a fiver in, drove it for a while (using fuel), and then put another fiver in.

Lol you need put more than fiver if you want the needle to move at one go and not in short burst,my brother did that and his car stayed on amber.
£10 at one go will make the needle move to a quater tank for me.
