...finally got the Omex unit fitted and configured. After a LOT of d*cking about, I have got the shift light exactly where I wanted it at 6.8k and with adjustments of 100 at my fingertips. I won't explain here, but should anyone want to get a shift light fitted, I will happily explain the science... Very Happy

Looks wkd mate,

So you can fit the omex on the 180! I was lead to believe it wouldn't fit! looks tidy,

Also can't wait to get my wheel now looks swish!

Cheers Jamie.

Yes, the Omex eventually went to plan, but only as a shift light - the rev limiter will not work on the coil pack. It is a simple question of mathematics to get the shift point where you want. Let me know if you ever get round to fitting one and I will explain.

Hi after reading through this tread I decided to check my front spax shock as I've always wondered if they are the correct way around.

Here's how mine looked in comparison

I know the picture is small but shows direction

Something not right here. Your spring is not correctly seated; that is your first clue.

The springs spiral counter-clockwise upwards, the end of which should seat in the point where it slopes. It would be difficult to notice THAT much difference with a standard setup, but its nonetheless not safe as your spring is taking more load on one side.

Try jacking the car up and spinning the spring round to see where it seats, but I would put good money on this set up being wrong. Bear in mind that if it seats correctly, you may still need to check the top bearing and at that point you might have already realised you have the wrong spring for the car!

Cheers Ben. Am very happy with it myself - really looks the part and is great to drive with. The boss brings the whole apparatus closer to the driver which really helps with the harness arrangement.

looks awesome mate, the only black 180 which is better than mine lol would you say the omp wheel you've got fitted would be just as good with factory seats?

Is it any bigger/smaller than a standard wheel?
It looks the business!

I'd love something like this and a flocked binnacle (just for the look), but 1) no idea what size and 2) MOT reasons put me off as I'm not sure I can legally remove the standard wheel with airbag!

Cheers Matty - and I have the factory 180 seats with my harnesses. They are very good seats IMO. Not really worth changing unless you need FIA.

Ben - it is smaller than standard - is 320mm diameter. The rules for MOT are a nightmare. I started a post a while back when I was MOT'ing mine. It went through, as it should have done, as a track car and thus did not need to be tested for airbags. I will be fine for the future as long as they don't change it.

To be classed as a track car, you need to have significantly changed the car from original spec, and HAS to include specific items. Its done on something akin to a points system, or which you have to have enough points to be classes as a track monster. Harnesses and rear seat delete mod goes a long way and swung mine, but then so did non standard brakes, suspension, filtering blah blah....

Let me know if you want more info and I will send a request to my long-term memory... Smile

sorry mate, i meant, if you were to use the car as a daily would you still use the omp steering or would you stick with the factory unit?

The problem with the aftermarket boss is that it brings the wheel further away from the cowl meaning the stalks are further away. As you don't use them on a race day, it doesn't worry me, but for a daily drive this could be frustrating. Maybe you could find a shallower boss kit, but I went with the original item and this is te upshot...
