My 206 has just failed it's M.O.T for having DRL's. I've been told they are road legal for now but the new legislation coming soon says they have to be factory fitted to make them legal in the future. So much for making my car safer on the roads Confused

So hold on..

It failed because it's road legal?

How can they fail you on legislation that hasn't been put in force yet?

Me = Confused.

As ash said. If it isn't law yet they can't fail you. At the most it would be a advisory.

Hmm...money making scam I smell.

In the future take your car to a factory and fit the DRL lights there and provide MOT with photo evidence

I would be contacting VOSA and appealing. As said before, your car can't fail it's MOT for being road legal. Optional lighting like front fog lamps are not testable, so therefore DRLs shouldn't be tested, they are not obligatory lights on a 206.

A pic of the car with the DRLs fitted might help clear this up though as there is already legislation as to the positioning of lights on a vehicle.

Easy answer to get the car through the MOT is to disconnect your DRLs

You sure they werent getting them confused with HIDs?

I would have thought that DRLs wouldnt become illegal as I thought that there were talks about all cars being required to have their lights on or something similar to Sweden.

DRL's are a pure safety menace on the roads, EU was mad for changing the law Rolling Eyes
