According to the owner’s manual the regular 2.0L engine found in the GTi and the CC requires 4.25 litres of oil when changing the oil and filter, and the GTi180 requires 5.3 litres of oil for the same task. The manual is also quite strict on the use of 5W40 synthetic oil only for the GTi180
I stand corrected on the level - thank you, but use of 5w40 is a judgement call. Bear in mind that as engines build up the miles, the tollerance of the components will decrease meaning that thinner oil will get through piston ring gaps etc easier - meaning oil burning and eventual glazing... then new liners time!
I would say 10w40 for engines that have covered 50k+. But this is only my opinion - at the end of the day an oil change every 4-6k miles whatever the grade (within reason) will keep an engine in good nick..

Thanks, I used 5W40 but not 5.3 litres! lol. Will check in the morning when it has all settled

I wouldn't worry too much dude. You will soon know if you are burning oil! Just keep an eye on the level every coupla weeks... assuming you have the right dipstick.. LMAO

The level now reads about half way on the dipstick - and for the amount of oil I put in yesterday, that would be about right I like getting these little imperfections sorted. I'm guessing the oil light should come on when you turn the ignition on, then go out again (as the battery, airbag, esp lights etc do). Mine doesn't come on at all

If the bulb works its time to check your sensors.

All 206's Don't have a light for oil when you turn the ignition on as the battery and airbag,..etc.
It only goes on if there is something wrong with the oil in your engine,such as a bad and clogged filter,no oil,and such things related to oil.it will go on with the stop flashing and a beep
