#1: 2nd gear crunch Author: Jammie_1989, Location: ManchesterPosted: Tue May 15, 2012 1:53 am ---- My car every now and again crunches when putting into second gear. Sometimes happens when higher up the rev range and sometimes lower. Guessing the gearbox will need 2nd gear replacing but dont know much about gear boxes.
Also my clutch is on the way out. Would this make any difference?
Hope isnt not a full gearbox rebuild

And/or incorrect gearbox oil.

Get a nice clunking when changing from 1st to 2nd as well and clutch judder. Machanic I go to said its cause its nearly gone and they go harder or something at end of their life. Said the flywheel was fine so hopefully new clutch soon will solve the problem
