#1: Petrol Gauge - Strange?? Author: MrMorris, Location: Over that hill.Posted: Tue May 15, 2012 9:45 am ---- Hello all! Been a long time since I've been on here
Right, problem is this, for months now (just trying to get everything fixed/solved on the car) my petrol gauge doesn't seem to be reading correctly. Once the light comes on, I go petrol station and fill the tank. Costs about £28-£29... Strange, since the light was on, so surely should be able to put more than 23~litres in.
Also, the gauge never goes above the 3quarter mark. Even if I have filled it up, and the petrol nozzel clicks its self off (so I know the tank is full, I usually let it settle abit, then do another click or 2).
Last strange thing... Light comes on, yet I can do nearly 150miles with the light on...
Car is a 206 2.0 GTI 2001 (Y plate)
Would a BSI update help this? Or am I looking at a new fuel sensor?
Or...?
Many thanks for any advise on this, as I aint got a clue...

#5: Re: Petrol Gauge - Strange?? Author: Andrew, Location: Black Country Ay IPosted: Tue May 15, 2012 12:50 pm ---- I had this for a while, it would click between 3/4 and full tank. I had to disconnect the battery recently and its been normal since, softbooting your BSI might help

Does the 'empty' light come on, based on where the needle is, or where the fuel level is in the tank?
Strange how I can go 130-160 miles, once the light comes on.

Saying that my problem is the needle is in the wrong place.
