ABS Fault

Hi guys

When starting my car to come home from work, car started beeping at me and said ABS Fault on the dash.....

Is this a fault that anyone has had before??? Going to have a look at it but wanting help on where to start... could it be fluid is low, or brake pads low??

I dunno, someone help me lol Sad xx

my abs sometimes lights up but i just ignore it as sometimes it will come on and stay on for a journey, then when i go to use it it will come on then after a few seconds turn off and stay off for a week or 2

Turned it off and on again, but still on, will have to look on weekend, but dunno what to start with, there are a few things it could be??

it could be the sensors have gone, other than that i'm a bit stumped as to what it could be tbh Debz

Could be a faulty sensor?? if its staying on all the time get someone to plug a diagnostic reader and it should tell you what's up.

possible corrided abs rings? check rings and sensors or get it plugged in.

could be sensor or ABS ring has a crack in it (thats what happened to mine)

That is what happened to our old CC. ABS fault light popped on and off.
Was a cracked ring in the end.

guys since i posted this it has only come on twice so probably just needs a clean or is loose. Im tight and dont wanna buy a haynes manual or anything lol, so can someone give me a rough idea of how i get to them and clean them etc??? xx

If you remove the wheel find the wire that goes to the bulk head and follow it to the sensor on the hub. Just check there's nothing metal contacting the sensor. My abs light came on when the cv joint clip came loose and that caused the light to come on.

Thanks for this, Ive also noticed now that when turning the right hand side is making a cluncking noise when i turn. It sounded like the wipers were stuck at first, could this be connected or a different problem? x

Could be dirty/corroded/cracked rings, could be sensors... Don't get wet carpets do you? I had this problem in my 406 and it turned out water had gathered in the sound deadening below the carpet and had slightly corroded the plugs in the footwell. After taking them apart, drying and cleaning them the problem went away.
