#1: wheel bolt confusion... Author: JordGJ, Location: Leeds / West Midlands PostPosted: Tue May 29, 2012 7:31 am

I REALLY want to fit my wheels now it's getting annoying, but I only have a set of steel tapered bolts and XL alloy tapered bolts.

Will i definitely die if I fit them with the steel bolts? because I read somewhere it's ok if they are tapered (which the wheels are obviously)

If not, my options are fitting spacers which I'm not 100% sure i want to do now i've test fitted them again as they already stick out, or buy some alloy bolts Sad

how long is the thread on the bolt?

you need at least 35mm thread on taper bolt on standard 25 offset

the threat on the steel bolts is about 20mm

the thread on the alloy bolts is about 45mm

the wheels won't be standard offset but I guess the steels are too short and alloys too long so I might as well buy some shorter alloy ones?

well you need to know what offset are you running before you can decide what bolts you need.....
