£60 for a CAT? aye f*** off, it'll last about as long as me if I was in bed with Jessica Alba and Tulisa!

So it will break before you've even stripped the car. Laughing

P.S. Lee. Tulisa. Really? Haven't you seen the video? Rolling Eyes

ideally you need to get the code read otherwise you will have to isolate the problem stepwise....

randomly replacing parts isn't the best practise.

cat glowing red/ overheating indicate high work load on the cat.

could be misfire or running rich.

that means coilpack, injectors, spark plug, O2 sensor or even MAP sensor could play a roll.....

even if the timing belt jump a tooth would cause misfiring.....

you really need to get the code read to narrow down the choices...

I had this on my 1.4 a few months back, no power, eml flashing, cat was glowing. stank of fuel, turned out to be the coil pack had packed up.
Cat glowing shows unburnt fuel detonating in the cat causing it to get even hotter than usual.

Thanks Lee, that's what I'm thinking. Did you get any fault codes? There's nothing showing on the display say any fault code that's why I'm reluctant to get it read. I do appreciate the input from sea book tho.

Works for people / garages that havent got a clue Wink

As its a TU lump then the coolant temp sensor which is a know weakness would be the first place I would look.
