#1: 'Juddery' clutch Author: zoomer, Location: LancsPosted: Mon Jun 04, 2012 5:22 pm ---- Hi - recently bought a 2005 2.0 HDI SE and drives great, apart from needing a lot of revs to avoid a real juddery start - not too bad in first, but reverse when parking feels like I'm putting undue stress on the clutch, having to ride it much more than I normally would to avoid the 'judder'
Reading a similar thread, thought it may be the clutch slave cylinder, but unsure whether the 2.0 HDI is hydraulic or cable?
Hints and tips as to what to check much appreciated

We have had 3 206 Petrols with juddering clutches, and it is very annoying. Especially hill starts and in traffic!
From what I have read, possibly changing the bottom engine mount cures it but I cannot guarentee it as we have never had one changed.

Don't think I've heard any creaking, but I've not listened whilst someone else operates the clutch, and not whilst the engine's not running as yet

Wondering if engine or gearbox mounts might be worn but not sure whether that would cause the clutch symptoms as well
Just passed MOT before I collected the car, so can't see any major wear getting through undetected - not owned a Peugeot diesel for many years, so it might just be 'one of those things' that I'm just not used to yet!!!

Correct - 2.0 HDI right hand drive 206's use a hydraulic clutch set up.

Yes, particularly the rear mount- the gearbox to body stabiliser. Just a small amount of wear here- not enough to be an MOT fail- will allow the whole engine to shake, even more noticeable when reversing just like you're experiencing.
If it looks anything like this where the rubber has broken away from the outer casing then it's time to change it
