#2: Re: soundproof bonnet? Author: Seabook, Posted: Thu Jun 07, 2012 4:18 pm ---- you suppose to have the insulation material on the bonnet.....
plus you can stuff up the door seal; that really cut out quite a lot of noise from outside....

Mine wasnt, and started melting on the engine. The amount of smoke it created, I thought the engine was on fire! Needless to say I took it off as soon as I got home.

7979F0 Sound Proofing £71.08 plus £1.62 for the fixings.
I bought one last year. Looked around the scrappies first but they were all battered and sagging so decided new was the best way.

Does it cause the engine-bay to run at higher temp?
Does it make the car quieter by much? (in the cabin ofcourse)
I've not noticed the engine run any hotter and doesn't seem any quieter. It did reach running temperature quicker in winter though.

That's not good news for our 40 C in the shade during summer.
Probably why I've never seen a 206 with the bonnet shield over here,
and I've had a look at a fair few in all these years.
Then again I'm convinced one should avoid running the car at those ambient temps unless really necessary.
#14: Re: soundproof bonnet? Author: Ash, Location: Running from Ant and Lee and Adam...........Posted: Sat Jun 09, 2012 4:15 am ---- I fitted one. Bought it from here for a tenner. No real noise difference but it did warm up quicker and retain heat for longer.
If you wanna deaden it, put some proper sound deadening on the inside of the bonnet and firewall. However, you will need to check the temperature rating and it will make everything heavy.
