#1: Destroyed by a Swift Sport Author: GTIjim, Location: LincolnPosted: Tue Jun 12, 2012 2:44 pm ---- Well, I wasnt hanging around today in my GTI as i pulled off the roundabout and onto the dual carrageway. Had a Suzuki Swift Sport ('60 plate) up my chuff so put my foot down. He went into the outside lane and went past with zero effort.
This leads me nicely into asking a question; my exhaust has two tiny holes, one near the rear lambda sensor and another at the cat-to-mid pipe join. The car seems a little flat and unresponsive, could these things really be causing a significant loss in torque and power?
Any thoughts?
Regards,
Jim

#4: Re: Destroyed by a Swift Sport Author: troy, Location: llanelliPosted: Tue Jun 12, 2012 3:02 pm ---- new swit sports go really well, i work for suzuki and the new 60 plate onward ones are great.
#5: Re: Destroyed by a Swift Sport Author: GTIjim, Location: LincolnPosted: Tue Jun 12, 2012 3:04 pm ---- The main hole is on the 'boss' where the rear lambda screws in. Bizzarely, there is no noticable loss in fuel consumption?!?
The symptoms are accompanied by a ticking sound under heavy load but am fairly certain it isn't the renowned manifold rattle.

Ive also noticed in traffic, pull away from stationary in 1st but leave it in 1st (covering short distances in traffic) upto about 3.5-4k rpm then lift off to slow down creates a muffled 'popping' & 'banging' sound, like a race car/bike on over-run???

Really? Well the pedal doesn't move further than the stop on the bulkhead, maybe yours moved further?
A Swift Sport is a nippy car and I accept that age will be a factor but the Swifts have naff-all torque. The car has felt better (when I got it) and am pretty convinced this wouldnt have been the case should the car be fully serviceable.
Is anyone qualified enough to state whether a holed exhaust would reduce power and why?
