#1: How can I provide 12v Power? Author: Jack123, Location: Earl Shilton UK PostPosted: Sun Jun 17, 2012 2:34 pm

Basically, doing some lighting for my car, and before I got cutting up wires in the car, I want to test the circuit out of the car, now, what can I use to provide 12v Power?

Looked on ebay, nothing found really, quick google search, same again, help?

Edit: I think I am in the wrong section, sorry.

I was hoping for a more, in-home solution, something I can plug in to test the circuit in the house, like a variable power pack or something, put something that will take circuits.

I'm sure there is something, I just can't remember the name for the life of me.

Hm, I was hoping for something a bit smaller, eh.

Yes! but with something like the pins on a voltmeter, or something with croc clips, so I can clip it on to the circuit and power it up.

I don't want to blow myself up, plus is means taking my car battery inside. Thumb Down

That plug looks ideal, just not a fan of cutting leads, rather have something made for the job.

God I'm picky.

easy enough too take the cig plug off the lead and solder on the croc clips in its place mate.

Yeah, I just want some way to test the circuit inside my house before I take it out and fit it into the car.

I'm such an idiot, I didn't think of a 12v battery and a cradle.

How many amps do you need? There are tons of stuff available.

I have a proper 12v DC converter lying around..

Lots of devices use big transformers that output 12v.

Like I said, s**t loads of stuff.

^^^ Two 12v LED strips ran off a transformer that came with a modem. Chopped the terminal off and connected to LED's (it had amps needed) and boom!

Going to be used to test my LED Circuit at first, hoping the battery will suffice, only plug I can find at home is a 10v Modem one unfortunately.

Why the face? 1.5v each. In series means voltage gets added up. 1.5 x 8 = 12

12v supply and it's for LED's so not exactly high amps unless you're running lots of them.

Just a lot of work for some simple LED's haha.
