Well not been on here for a while but i have got a little update for you all. As you'll have read i've had no end of issues with the original engine in the golf so i came across a CAT-C damaged audi a3 i've purchased to use in the mk2 instead. It's an AGU turbo unit running 150bhp as standard and it's only done 62k so hopefully i'll have the car home in the next couple of weeks and can start dismantaling it ready to put into the mk2. I will be selling off as many parts as i can to recoup some money back anyway here's a few photo's of the car.

Mk2 Golf's are cool, especially one that looks as fresh as the day it rolled off the production line all those years ago, I can respect that. Like I said, if it gets decked on some sweet wheels it will be stunning.

You obviously don't appreciate older cars then, whereas personally, I do. It doesn't matter that it looks old, that's what makes it cool, it's retro I guess.

TBH I can see that it will be mint when done and fair play for the work your putting in, but I prefer the MK1 and the clipper. Sure it will look factory fresh when done.

And old school is cool, id have any of the following in MINT condition-

For the record then, here's a sweet mk2:

You can't tell me that that isn't cool, because if you did, you'd be wrong anyway Laughing Razz

Freestyle - i can see your point and tbh the attraction of new cars is great but in reality my "old mk2 golf" will continue to raise steady in value compared to the cost of building it for me plus i enjoy the frustration and satisfaction i get from working on the car i can more than likely tell you where every nut and bolt goes for both the golf and my old 206 which had a lot more money thrown at it then 98% of other cars on here.

Ross that mk2 looks uber cool :wubb: in answer to your question about wheels and lows the answer will be yes to both once i have decided what i think will sort the car and what deals i can find tbh

old cars are cool, and as pricey said the do rise in value.....you can buy a s**t golf for a few hundred...throw some pennies at it and maybe not make money, but can sell it for a good grand or so.

just look at me, i owna scimitar, and looking at either a old caddy, 405 or a mk2 granada v6 to do up after summer when the scimmitar is gone....

and im 19, OLD CARS ARE COOL

and sweeeeeet golfs man.....nice wires....get a wheel whores sticker dude

I'd love an old car to restore. It's more the satisfaction you get when it's complete well lookin better these things are never complete. Almost purposely else we'd get bored and sell them Smile my 2cents
