#1: Management light... Author: evilmunkey87, Location: TorquayPosted: Thu Jun 28, 2012 4:35 pm ---- So... I picked up my lovely GTi today, love it!! However, the chap rang me last night saying that the drive belt had started to screech as he drove home from having the MOT done.
Knocked a few quid off the car to cover it and I am getting the new belt fitted tomorrow evening .
I drove from Thatcham (where I bought the car) to Bristol (where my gf goes to uni) and then to Torquay, where I live. No problem at all, drove like a dream but then as I drove home from poker earlier, the engine management light flickered a few times then came on solid... but there is no difference in noise, no loss of power, no change in the handling or anything... a little confused to say the least.
Anybody experienced this before? Or maybe know why it would be?
Thanks

2001 onwards are EOBD so cheap / easy to scan.

#8: Re: Management light... Author: evilmunkey87, Location: TorquayPosted: Fri Jun 29, 2012 10:11 am ---- Thanks for that, I am getting it checked out tonight. Light went off earlier then came back on again a short while ago.
Also cut out at lights a couple of times, hopefully its just a breather pipe or something come loose

Belt is all done now, management light has been off all evening which is good!
I have no display though, checked connections behind the stereo, everything seems fine, didn't have time to take the display off or anything but will check Monday when I'm at work...

On order? Most motor factors will have the Bosch plugs on the shelf. Even Halfrauds usually have them in stock. Even my local A1 store carries a range of Bosch plugs. I'd change them sooner than Monday if I could to avoid anything else failing if the plug gives out before hand.
