the inner driveshaft is failing - much knocking to be had when i turn left (n/s driveshaft).Now then, is it possible to get just the driveshaft without the cv joint as it is fairly recent? I have ofc searched ,but seem unable to find one - only complete driveshafts with cv joints.
I was advised on the mot just a month ago about a bit of play in this , but am amazed at how quickly this has appeared
or
can the wishbone cause the same knocking , and i am taking too much notice of what the garage says?
The knocking sound gets faster with speed, and not one lvl noise.
Any help much appreciated as i only have a few days off work till summer camp

I focused on the driveshaft , not only as the garage did put an advisory, but i can also move the shaft between hub and gearbox, without too much effort, and i dont think d/s's have any play in them ? Defo could be wrong, as most of my years i was working on motorbikes, and cars are bit new to me although same principle.

Other problem about ticking could be your diff. :s had mine checked at a gearbox specialist after my local butcher said the gear box was gone, turns out it was a laundry list of other problems.
Anyhow. whilst the car is in the air, i'm changing drive shafts, wishbones, drop links and bottom mount rubber.
Hopefully this will cure the same ticking and knocking sounds you described.

but the shaft is the most expensive part of the system.
that's why most recon-shaft re-use the main shaft but with new CV joint.

It was a wheel bearing. No grinding noise just knocking.
dont know why i thought it was the driveshaft, i guess listening to people who i thought knew what the problem was
