#1: Rattling heat shield. Author: Sprotty, Location: newarkPosted: Thu Jul 12, 2012 1:43 am ---- Got a rattling heat shield on the manifold of my gti 180. Bolts are too corroded to tighten. Has anyone just removed the heat shield without any issues?

But yeah, if you can remove it, you can remove it, it should be fine to remove.

Car companies don't spend time and money doing research, design and manufacturing on something that isn't needed.
Clean up the threads and buy a new nut and bolt. Probably cost less than £1 to sort it out.
