Just wondering what you all think and if you can suggest any improvements. This is how I bought it, don't think it has any engine/performance mods. Top site by the way, there is some top info and some top people on here, nice one.

It has side skirts and something on the bottom of the rear bumper.

I'd say those rear chrome brake lights needs changing to ph2 or m3 style lights

I thought about that, it also has the standard headlights so was thinking of getting the angel eye ones, unless there's better for the front?

Have no idea what the ph2 or m3 lights are or where to get them from, I know nothing about cars or parts (almost as bad a woman mechnically lol) even had to get my dad to come see it for me to make sure everything was good haha.

Any links mate?

Hi and welcome!
M3 rear lights would look good. Not sure on the bodykit. But as long as you like it. Looks quite tidy.

Don't go angel eyes. Either masked crystals or Morettes look better

If you want to be able to see when you drive, your better off keeping the standard headlights Laughing

Haha I like your style Andy.

So I take it there's a divided opinion between getting morettes (or other) headlights and keeping the standard?

Cheers for the link for the lights Paul Smile

Also, I've been reading that standard 180s only give around 165bhp, which has made me sad Sad I'm not bothered too much I mean my last car was a 1.2 but it would have been nice to get a car that is what it says! Mods cost too much, I'm not paying about £700/800 overall just for another exhaust, a chip and an induction kit when I probably won't see that much difference.

Oh and one last point, the 0-60 times, unless I'm an awful driver, are way out.

I tried it on a dead road and the traction control kicks in which basically freezes the car for a second then you 'start again' kinda thing. Plus, I didn't quite go all the way to 7/8k revs (maybe 6?) as it sounded like my engine was going to blow up (being used to a Corsa I'm not used to all this high revvin sporty shizz)

But my 0-60 was 10 seconds! hahaha.

Nice car though.

Not so much about divided opinion but angel eyes are not known for having the best light output.

If you want to change them tho Morettes or masked crystals will give better light.

Good job I came on here then, will definitely exclude the angel eyes. Just bought some halfords "ultra brilliance" bulbs to fit the existing lights at the moment - lots of light - very happy for the time being at least, unless the Morettes use the same bulbs and have the same (or more) amount of light?

Welcome to the site mate, good choice of colour but I would remove those additional sideskirts, front/rear splitter and change the rear lights for ph2 units and it will look much much better

Morettes I have heard are not quite as good as standard lights but not terrible. Masked crystals are the same as you have now with black masks inside. You can get h7 or h4 Morettes.

My opinion -
Get rid of
the awful body kit
Chrome Lexus Lights
Chrome Petrol Cap

Get it lowered, Morettes are lush.
Janspeed Exhaust is my favourite mod
HIDs

Best headlights I have ever owned (for light output) was crystals. But love my morettes too much to go back Smile

HIDs are going to be illegal soon unless they are self cleaning.

When I was at the mot station yesterday talking to the chap he said they are not going to be allowed to pass them soon. I don't know the ins and outs as I haven't got them but he said don't bother getting them.

Ouch, are the sideskirts-bumpers that bad? I thought they were pretty cool as most 206's look the same barring the bonnet grills etc, but if the general idea is that they are not that good then I might get them changed! I'm not too bothered myself but I don't want people thinking my car looks awful. Here are pictures of the front and back bumpers. Are they really that bad lol

Thanks very much for the feedback

Don't let other people put you off. If everyone did that all our cars would look the same. If you like them keep them. There are always going to be people that don't like something. That's why there is such a selection of aftermarket parts.

No worries Matty. That's how I bought the car, as you can see it's still in the garage in those pics. So I can always do a makeover providing the costs aren't sky high, hence the asking of suggestions from you guys Smile

Boyracer - well said. But I do like to find a balance between what I like and what is considered sound by most others so that as a rule it is okay by most people's standards. No point in me liking something if most other people would laugh at it!

I think it looks fine. The paintwork looks good on the splitters ect and its not a huge power ranger style bodykit. Do what you want as its your car. You will never get everyone to like your car, so just make sure YOU like it.

Do what you like to your car, personally I like them looking smart and unique, but a lot of people on here will say do this do that and get what everyone else is doing, there are some general things however.

I have angel eyes, there not amazing light output but I could see on a dark country lane fine. Personally I hate the look of Morettes and Phase 2 Rear lights and I will do my own take on the car whilst trying to make it smart at the same time.

The guys on here know a lot about 206 and everything you need to know can be found out no problems, however when it comes to appearance, do what you feel is best for YOUR car.

After all

Your the one that drives it.

The rear is passable. The front, sorry but no.

Scene or not, they looks crappy like all bodykits on road cars

This is rubbish, there's a post on here somewhere saying there was a flaw in the new legislation regarding HID's, and that they only had to be self cleaning if they self cleaned from factory, making aftermarket ones passable.

My HIDs just passed a MOT no problem, never mentioned I had HIDs and it never came up on the test.

Lee don't be afraid to rev it all the up to 6.5k its meant to be revved that high Razz

Not a bad looking car. Body kits seem to be an acquired taste these days. If anything, I'd be tempted to paint the lower lip of the front bumper in black to make it look more like a splitter.

As for HIDs, people are of mixed opinions as to the legality. Some people are getting mixed up between road legal and MOT passable (only because VOSA cocked up on the wording). Ultimately it is down to the courts if aftermarket HIDs are legal or not. If the courts follow the DfTs guidelines, then they would probably find them illegal. I'm not sure if there has been a test case yet, but one probably isn't far away. It's the same old story though, if you don't draw attention to yourself, then you won't be noticed.

Thanks guys, much appreciated.

The car has done 35,000 miles and was registered in Feb 2004. MOT due next year.

It cost £2,900

Is that standard or was I robbed, do you think? You guys are the experts Smile

Price is a little high for what they go for these days, but it is low mileage.

If you are happy with it, that's all that matters.

Thanks Rimmer

Also, can anyone advise, the dealer told me that this is standard straight from the manufacturer but I've not seen any other GTI 180 with the same side skirts and front and back bumpers, therefore do I need to declare to the insurance company that it has a body kit and side skirts?

Anything else you can see I may need to declare? No point in paying over a grand for insurance if it's not going to pay out if ever I need it!

Not really.

Seeing other 206 GTI 180s, I knew mine was different so I ignored what he said, hence why I started to look into it. Only thing is, I haven't got a clue what is different about mine. For example, I have no idea what a splitter is (had to Google it) and tbh don't really care - I've never been good with vehicles/engineering and the like.

Just need to make sure I get the insurance right.
