#1: Do I have a problem? In fact, I have three questions Author: lee1985, Location: North WestPosted: Tue Jul 17, 2012 5:37 am ---- On the GTI 180 there are two ignition stages, you turn the key a tiny bit and all the lights (seat belt light, ABS light etc) on the dashboard stay lit.
You turn it a little bit more and most of the icons disappear, the engine and the ABS icons still stay lit, however.
When I turn it again and start the engine they all go off.
But on the 'second ignition stage' when I take my seat belt off for example, it lights up immediately. When I put it back on, the light goes away. However, the engine and the ABS (even when handbrake is off) lights ONLY go out when I start the engine.
Do I have a problem or do these lights just light being stubborn until the engine has been started?
ALSO I have one other question. Is there any way to check that my car is definitely the GTI 180 version? It has it on the back of the car etc etc but I just don't understand why I can't get any less than 10 seconds 0-60... and people on youtube like that Luke guy on here get like 6.5 (even the official figures are 7.5). Fair enough some of them have exhausts and stuff but nothing can justify a difference of 3.5 seconds imo...
Finally, where can I download a user manual for my car? I wasn't given one when I bought the car and I can't find one on the peugeot website (unless I'm thick)
Oh and question number 4 sorry. Does it actually do any good to rev the car to like 6-7k revs? Someone said the car is meant to be revved that high but my last car was a 1.2 corsa and if I heard a sound like that the engine would probably blow up. I'm not gonna do any harm by revving it around 6-7k revs when going quick am I?
Thanks guys

In fact, I have three questions Author: Barking, Location: sarcasm-in-shedloadsPosted: Tue Jul 17, 2012 5:47 am ---- On the 'how do I know my car is a GTI 180' front - it has a 4-2-1 exhaust manifold which is easily seen at the front of the engine. That's probably the easiest visible thing (most other things are easily swapped to/from other 206's). Obviously an HPI check will also tell you what car you've got.
The 0-60 times - take the ESR off and it'll be quicker. Best time on my old 180 (54-plate) was 7.1 seconds. It's just practice to get it lower (and obviously a long enough private airstrip).
User manual - do you actually need one? It's a 206 - it will break down, but is easily fixed. Last edited by Barking on Tue Jul 17, 2012 5:48 am; edited 1 time in total

Press & hold the ESP button to the right next to the passenger airbag disarm keyswitch BUT im pretty sure it will turn itself back on again if you go over a certain speed.

As for lack off performance.
Ngk plugs will kill performance.
Open cone filters also kills performance on the 180 mine hated them.
Possible vvt sensor problem.

You must be brilliant if you can tell a lot just by looking in the hood

#14: Re: Do I have a problem? In fact, I have three questions Author: 206boyracer, Location: Sunny CornwallPosted: Tue Jul 17, 2012 6:20 am ---- That's a 180.
#15: Re: Do I have a problem? In fact, I have three questions Author: Matt, Posted: Tue Jul 17, 2012 6:49 am ---- It's normal for those lights to come on and go off when they do.
That's defo a 180 lump.
Peugeot online for the manual.
As for revving 6/7k, it should be fine as it has a limiter in place.
