#18: Re: F**king Birds! Author: evilmunkey87, Location: TorquayPosted: Wed Jul 18, 2012 2:56 pm ---- Haha, reading this has made a stupendously terrible day sooo much better
Yes, I was joking about there being bird droppings in my coolant tank, its weird white crap that I had last time I had a head gasket go, apparently its a sign that it has gone, but according to the AA, it is not?!
Anyway, the AA man doing a diagnostic, it appeared that the coil pack was screwed royally and the car was running on 2 cylinders, hence no power and horrendous noise! After a bit of a mission trying to get one from somewhere, eventually did but had to be towed to Exeter to get it and fit it.
£142.44 for the coil pack, £22 for the plugs and £30 call out for the uniparts bloke to let us in for the parts! But..... Luckily for me, the AA man didn't really know how to use his machine, so I ended up just paying for the coil pack, getting free plugs and someone missed there dinner for nothing!
So surely after my colleague being rushed into hospital (suspected heart attack) being on my own at work all day and extremely busy, the car costing me money, this week can only get better?!

Author: Harry, Location: StaffordPosted: Wed Jul 18, 2012 3:11 pm ---- If the coolant is any thicker than water and a creamy colour it means the head gasket is going - not necessarily gone could take a while but obviously replace it asap that way the head may not need skimming.
Sounds like an overpriced coil pack, last time I checked genuine were just over 100 (although maybe not gtis) and aftermarket around 40-70
Hope your colleague is ok

I said that it seemed like a crazy price for one, they are going for £36 upwards second hand on eBay but thats a risk as it could go again next week, it would take a couple of days to get to me, and I am not a fan of buses, especially at 6am!
I will be changing the cam belt soon, will get head gasket done at same time, maybe even engine mounts too
have to park my car under a tree every night and thats what i get in the morning
and that was only the front bonnet. didnt bother taking a picture of the rear
Got it all up the side and over the roof then down the other side on mine lol. That looks nasty though, probably ran his mate over!
Dan, I would check mate, little f*ckers around here are clever, know every time I clean my car, if I switch parking space at work they still find the bloody thing, I was even driving along one day, and they got it right in the window.. unfortunately I did not have a passenger as I would have probably crashed by laughing so much...
