206 Alarm
-> 206 Problems

#1: 206 Alarm Author: ikasli, Location: UK PostPosted: Fri Jul 20, 2012 8:32 pm

Hi Everyone,

I have tried searching for this problem, but couldn't find a solution so I thought I'd post a new topic.

My 2001 reg 206 alarm keeps going off. This occurs several times, day and night, and each time I check, there is nobody and nothing in sight.

Is there any way of decreasing the alarm sensitivity? Or is there a different problem with this? I am willing to do the work myself (if possible) especially, having seen how helpful and comprehensive replies on previous topics have been.

Thanks

Disable the ultrasonics before you arm the alarm system as a test.

Its the button next to the handbrake, ignition off, press & hold button till the red alarm light comes on & stays on, then lock the car with the remote fob.

You have to do this everytime you wish to are the alarm with the ultrasonics disabled.

9 times out of 10 its the ultrasonics that go paranoid & repeatedly trigger the alarm.

New set is cheap enough from Peugeot / Citroen & easy diy.

Thanks for the reply MrBSI. I tried to do what you said above but couldn't see a light turning on anywhere, so wasn't sure if I had done it or not!

After googling around what you said, I found that if you block the sensors with blu tack, it blocks the sensor. I tried it last night and it worked!!! Alarm didn't go off at all!

I'm assuming this means it actually is the ultrasonics which is faulty. Is there a way for me to tone down the sensitivity or replace it? If so, how much are the costs involved? As I said before, I'm quite happy to do things myself if possible.

Replace is really the only option.

Peugeot / Citroen part number should be 6680 E9 - Alarm ultrasonic sensor £27.90 including the VAT from any Peugeot / Citroen main dealer parts department ( dont get ripped of on Ebay! )

One plug under the dash, cable then goes up the drivers A pillar to the first sensor then under the headlining to the second sensor.

Torx 10 & 20 screwdrivers needed to remove the sunvisors, A pillar trim is just clipped on.

The connector plug is a tight fit in the socket.
