#1: Noise? Author: tee_lad, Location: ShropshirePosted: Thu Jul 26, 2012 11:02 am ---- Got a noise that I don't recognise Its coming from the rear nearside of the car.
When I go over a speed hump or down a small bump it makes kind of a metal on metal noise for a split second. Problem is it doesn't do it all the time.
If I go over a larger bump or speed hump nothing happens and it only happens about 1 in 10. If I rock the car I hear nothing either. Any ideas what it could be so I can take a closer look Cheers

I'll take a look at this as the spare wheel was just in the boot when I bought the car, not even sure if there is a cage on my GTi But this is a good possibility thx

How do I check the rear shocks or do you mean a loose nut or something cheers ps hope its not the axle, changed one before and it was a nightmare.

I didnt have a spare wheel in it, so it was light and kept bumping when I went over bumps. Really done my tits in as it kept falling open and dragging on the road lol
